On the September 9 edition of WWE NXT, several former stars of the brand showed up to hype up the NXT Homecoming event on September 16.

Among those who appeared on the program was former WWE star Tyler Breeze.

There are several other former WWE stars who are currently on the free agency market that could show up on the show from Full Sail University.

Here are eight more former WWE stars who could potentially return at NXT Homecoming.

8. Fandango

Back in February, TNA Wrestling star JDC made his WWE return when he appeared on the NXT brand to challenge Lexis King for the NXT Heritage Cup.

JDC spent well over a decade with WWE where he was best known as Fandango during his time with the promotion.

Now that Tyler Breeze made his return to WWE NXT and will get a title shot at Homecoming, it would make sense for JDC to also make a comeback.

JDC being in Breeze’s corner for his NXT North American Championship match against Ethan Page at NXT Homecoming would be a logical choice to include another legendary star from days gone by on the brand.

7. Paige

Regarded by many fans as the first homegrown star from NXT, Paige first made a name for herself on the brand.

Becoming the inaugural NXT Women’s Champion, Paige deserves credit for helping to start the Women’s Revolution in WWE.

Since departing All Elite Wrestling in March, Saraya has made it no secret that she is open to making a return to WWE as Paige.

If NXT Homecoming is where she makes her reemergence, Paige could bring more eyes and attention to this show by choosing this to be the setting for her triumphant return to the company.

6. Dolph Ziggler

Back in 2022, Dolph Ziggler made his way down to NXT and took the show by storm in short order.

Winning the NXT Championship, Ziggler threw everyone for a loop during his run on the brand.

Since then, Ziggler has been released from WWE and has made his way over to TNA Wrestling where he has become a top star for the promotion.

Now known as Nic Nemeth, the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion should be given a spotlight on the NXT Homecoming show.

5. Mustafa Ali

Ever since being released by WWE in September 2023, Mustafa Ali has hit the ground running and looked to reestablish himself outside of the company.

Returning to the independent scene and debuting in TNA Wrestling, Ali has proven himself in the ring, on the mic and as a character in every way.

Winning the X-Division Championship and becoming a top star for TNA, Ali feels like someone who truly represents the company now.

With his history on the brand, it would feel appropriate for Ali to make his return at NXT Homecoming as part of the partnership with TNA Wrestling.

4. Cedric Alexander

Another former WWE star who has been making their presence felt in TNA Wrestling is Cedric Alexander.

The former WWE Cruiserweight Champion debuted in TNA ahead of Slammiversary and has been a consistent performer since then.

For nine years, Alexander established himself as a reliable in-ring worker for WWE with some time being spent on the NXT brand.

Alexander making his return at NXT Homecoming as part of the TNA Wrestling partnership could see him crossing paths with his former tag team partner and protege Je’Von Evans.

3. Bobby Roode

WWE star Robert Roode

On the September 9 episode of WWE NXT, the company aired a video package hyping the following week’s NXT Homecoming.

During the video, Bobby Roode was highlighted and given a spotlight to his memorable run on the brand.

Considering Roode is still working backstage with WWE despite seemingly quietly retiring from in-ring action, it would seem likely that the former NXT Champion could make his way to Full Sail University on September 16.

Roode showing up at NXT Homecoming would make for a fun moment where he can interact with a brand new era of the brand he once reigned over as champion.

2. Baron Corbin

WWE NXT Deadline Baron Corbin

In November 2024, Baron Corbin was part of a slate of talent cuts after being informed that his WWE contract would not be renewed.

Reinventing himself, Corbin has become Bishop Dyer and been proving himself outside of the WWE banner across several different promotions.

Dyer making a return and appearing on NXT Homecoming would be a nice moment for longtime fans of the former United States Champion.

His WWE career effectively started and ended in NXT, so it would be a good moment for him to have a chance to return and  be given his flowers.

1. Dakota Kai

In May, WWE had a huge slate of talent cuts with over 15 wrestlers being released from their contract.

One of the more surprising names part of these WWE releases had to be Dakota Kai.

The former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion has long been viewed as one of the most underrated stars on the roster.

WWE choosing to bring Dakota in for NXT Homecoming would be a sentimental nod to her importance to the women’s division during her time on the brand.
