With reports that GUNTHER could be poised to take some time off to resolve an injury, WWE may be looking for a replacement.
From a former NXT Champion who is seemingly set to return to others that could use the space left by GUNTHER’s absence to continue their rise, there are a few intriguing prospects of who could fill the Ring General’s boots for the time that he’s away.
Here are six potential replacements for GUNTHER in WWE.
6. Drew McIntyre
Drew McIntyre could be the perfect replacement for GUNTHER.
Able to continue feuding with any top star in WWE in dastardly fashion just like GUNTHER, McIntyre has some intense scores to settle with a variety of members of the roster.
Still with a burning hatred for CM Punk, McIntyre also clearly can’t stand Roman Reigns and the rest of the Bloodline, potentially making him a catalyst for fierce rivalries on WWE Raw.
Able to pick up stride exactly where GUNTHER leaves off, it could also lead to an iconic showdown between McIntyre and GUNTHER upon the latter’s return to action.

5. Bron Breakker
After Seth Rollins was taken out of action due to injury, his faction member Bron Breakker has already proven himself ready to step up.
However with the prospect of GUNTHER also taking time off, Breakker’s character could be fit to expand even more.
Able to occupy the same attitude and presence as GUNTHER, Breakker could continue his rise to the top of WWE while also becoming a viable threat as a main event singles star.
Poised to then face off against GUNTHER upon his return, there’s also the juicy character work of interfacing with Rollins when he returns to find his former protege shining on his own.

4. Ilja Dragunov
Before tearing his ACL during a house show match with GUNTHER back in September, Ilja Dragunov seemed poised to feud with the Ring General on TV.
Per reports, Dragunov could be ready for a return in the near future – he seems like the perfect fit to take over the reign of fear that GUNTHER has installed in the locker room.
Able to maximize his heelishness, Dragunov could definitely make a big impact on the main roster.
With the former NXT Champion having plenty of history with the current main roster – including the likes of Bron Breakker and Carmelo Hayes – the Mad Dragon could definitely proceed with telling interesting stories while GUNTHER is out of action.

3. LA Knight
With fan support swelling behind a few WWE stars online – one of them is LA Knight.
While LA Knight remains a fan favorite, he has yet to capture a top title in WWE.
Although Knight has been a two-time United States Champion, there seem to be seeds planted of a future fracas with Seth Rollins – potentially signaling a future run at the World Title.
Poised to make a solid run at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the future, it could be LA Knight who is set for a big few months at the top level.

2. R-Truth
A small change that saw GUNTHER replaced recently was the ‘Superstars’ banner on WWE’s website, which saw the Austrian replaced by R-Truth.
After returning to WWE, Truth has referred to himself as his real name Ron Killings and become noticeably more serious on TV.
With Killings now having that extra edge, a GUNTHER absence could potentially pave the way for a run towards the top of the card.
If GUNTHER is set to take some time off – perhaps that leaves some more room for a big run for Killings.

1. Grayson Waller
It was confirmed on a recent episode of WWE Raw that the tag team between Grayson Waller and Austin Theory – A-Town Down Under – is officially done.
With Waller linking up with the New Day and convinced that it was Theory that was holding him back from singles success, there could be a very fun filler storyline.
Grayson Waller could make a bold declaration about his future – taking over the space left behind by GUNTHER.
Leading to a very fun blow-off feud between the pair when GUNTHER returned that would be assuredly fun to watch – the feud could serve to recapture some of Waller’s obnoxious magic from NXT that always included him getting his eventual comeuppance.
