WWE has announced a number of big names that will appear on next week’s episode of NXT, including John Cena, Cody Rhodes and CM Punk.
The show is going head to head with AEW’s Blood & Guts episode of Dynamite on Wednesday due to election coverage taking place on Tuesday.
With the show loaded up with so many big names, here are some surprises we could see take place on the show.
John Cena Classic’s NXT participants announced
It was announced that John Cena will be making his return to WWE television for the first time since Backlash on next week’s Raw show in Brooklyn.
Alongside his appearance on Raw, WWE has announced that John Cena will also be appearing on NXT the following night.
As the previously announced John Cena Classic is reportedly slated for December, we could potentially see all of the NXT participants in the Classic announced on next week’s NXT show.
IYO SKY revealed as Kelani Jordan’s mystery opponent
After defending her NXT Women’s Championship against Wren Sinclair on last night’s Halloween Havoc event, Kelani Jordan has another title match lined up for next week’s NXT.
Kelani met up with Robert Stone backstage, who told Kelani that she would be defending the title against a mystery competitor on next week’s NXT after talking to both Adam Pearce and Nick Aldis about Kelani’s recent appearances on the main roster.
On NXT this week a segment between Kelani Jordan and IYO SKY aired teasing a potential match between the two, which would make IYO the most likely name to face Kelani on NXT next week.
CM Punk wins NXT Championship from Grayson Waller
In recent months, CM Punk has made a number of appearances at NXT and the Performance Center, including a recent match at an NXT live event, as well as two upcoming NXT live event appearances later this month.
With Punk being announced for an NXT Championship match against Grayson Waller on next week’s show, the match will likely end up not having a clean finish due to not wanting to beat Punk.
However, if Punk is going to be spending more time in NXT following Shawn Michaels’ promotion to the main roster as previously reported, then the company could shock fans and crown him NXT Champion on Wednesday.
