A WWE higher-up has named four upcoming stars during a recent TKO town hall meeting, likely meaning the quartet will be further showcased.
The TKO town hall meeting recently took place via Zoom, with attendance from departments across WWE, UFC, Zuffa Boxing, and On Location.
During the meeting, WWE President Nick Khan specifically named four young stars as “upcoming”, according to a recent report:
The four names
According to PW Insider, Khan specifically named Bron Breakker, Je’Von Evans, Sol Ruca, and Oba Femi as “upcoming WWE stars”.
While little else is known about the context of the shout-out, noting them as “upcoming” does suggest that all four are being primed for significant coverage on WWE programming, with top titles no doubt within their grasp.
Breakker is a two-time WWE Intercontinental Champion and is one-half of the World Tag Team Champions, alongside Austin Theory. The Vision will defend that title at Crown Jewel against Penta & Je’Von Evans. The November 7 match will be the first title defense since The Vision regained it back in July.
Sol Ruca debuted on Raw in April, going on to become WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion with a win over Becky Lynch at Clash in Italy the following month.
A former two-time NXT Champion, Oba Femi had his main roster debut in the men’s Royal Rumble match, being eliminated by Brock Lesnar before going on to feud with (and retire) the veteran star.
Evans was called up to the main roster in January of this year and is the outlier in Khan’s names, being yet to hold a WWE championship on NXT or Raw.
And, what about SmackDown?
All four names have something in common. Not only are they all former NXT stars, they are all currently signed to WWE Raw.
Why Khan didn’t name any members of the SmackDown roster is a mystery, although Raw is considering the main WWE show by many and that may be where his focus was at the time.
Nick Khan, Triple H & WWE creative
Nick Khan serves as WWE President, a role that naturally gives him an impressive level of sway when it comes to the direction of the product.
While Khan may arguably not be involved in the day-to-day of WWE creative, he has previously discussed his relationship with Triple H, saying:
“The only times I’ll get involved is if he calls and asks for my point of view, or if I really feel strongly about it, just as if he really feels strongly about something on the business end, I want him to call me.”
Khan would go on to say that he talks to Triple H “three-to-five times a day”, praising the WWE Hall of Famer for his vision.
The weight of the responsibility
For the four names, the drive was already there when it came to succeeding on the main roster.
Breakker, in particular, has been coached by Paul Heyman, with that relationship coming at the request of Triple H. The Heyman/Breakker relationship still continues, even if The Wiseman is no longer directly linked to The Vision. And, then there’s Heyman and his respect for Femi that is yet to pay off on screen.
Oba Femi wasn’t just thrown into a feud with Brock Lesnar, an (at the time) part-time star who no doubt wielded enough creative control to determine who he would face, let alone retire to. Femi has become something of a phenomenon in WWE, with his in-ring ability and charisma winning over a multitude of fans.
Sol Ruca’s debut saw her face Liv Morgan before entering the feud against Becky Lynch, pitting her against stars who had followed the path from NXT to the main roster that she was undertaking. An early title win may have come to an end, but there’s no doubt more to come.
For Je’Von Evans, that first title win can’t be far away for a star who is just 22 years of age. Teaming with Penta at Crown Jewel could see the World Tag Team Championship in their hands and lead to a rematch against Breakker and Theory down the line.
All four stars have shown that they can thrive in the spotlight, and it is only a matter of time before top title opportunities and key PLE main event matches come their way.
