WWE has been announcing plenty of matches to make this year’s WrestleMania 42 card look like one of the most stacked in the history of the event.
While there have been several bouts added in the last week, there have also been certain matches that many fans believed would be on the lineup not announced or scheduled to be added before the company heads to Las Vegas.
From title bouts to grudge matches to settle scores, some notable contests will not be seen during the two-night event on April 18 and 19.
Here are seven WWE matches to potentially miss out on the WrestleMania 42 card.
7. Carmelo Hayes vs. Ilja Dragunov for the WWE United States Championship

On the March 20 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, Carmelo Hayes defeated Ilja Dragunov to retain the WWE United States Championship.
Hayes and Dragunov have been telling the story of their competitive rivalry turned friendship over the US Title for the past several months since they traded the gold in December 2025.
However, it seems like this bout will not happen again for the gold at WrestleMania 42 after Hayes dropped the United States Championship to Sami Zayn on the March 27 SmackDown.
With Zayn now scheduled to face Trick Williams at Mania, Hayes and Dragunov do not have their path to be on the WrestleMania 42 card at the time of this writing.
6. Giulia vs. Tiffany Stratton for the WWE Women’s United States Championship

Over the past few weeks, Tiffany Stratton has set her sights on the WWE Women’s United States Championship.
Giulia currently holds the gold in her second reign with the title, but Stratton might just be the biggest threat to this run.
“The Beautiful Madness” seemingly turned back this challenge when she defeated Stratton in a non-title singles match on the March 27 episode of Friday Night SmackDown.
Thanks to this loss, fans might not see a rematch between Giulia and Stratton for the Women’s US Title come WrestleMania 42.
5. The Usos vs. The Vision for the WWE World Tag Team Championship

On the March 30 edition of Monday Night Raw, The Vision’s Logan Paul and Austin Theory defeated The Usos in a Street Fight to win the World Tag Team Championships thanks to iShowSpeed.
Before Paul used his signature brass knuckles to knock out Jimmy Uso, it was iShowSpeed who knocked out LA Knight with those same knucks.
This Street Fight from this past Monday may have set the stage for a huge six-man tag team match with The Vision teaming with Speed to face Knight and The Usos at WrestleMania 42.
With all four men accompanied in this trios contest, it feels like The Usos and The Vision will not be able to compete for the WWE World Tag Team Championships at “The Showcase of the Immortals.”

4. The Original El Grande Americano vs. El Grande Americano in a Mask vs. Mask Match

At WWE Royal Rumble 2026, The Original El Grande Americano made his return to the company and immediately became embroiled in a feud with his namesake, El Grande Americano.
Ever since, both Americanos have been fighting and causing chaos in each other’s lives to prove they are the one and only El Grande.
The two El Grandes both want to prove themselves as the only one who deserves the mask and could lead to a final showdown to end this rivalry.
While it seems like The Original El Grande vs. El Grande II could make for a massive Mask vs. Mask Match at WrestleMania 42, WWE might be better served saving this bout for the upcoming TripleMania event in Mexico for Lucha Libre AAA.
3. The MFTs vs. The Wyatt Sicks

Over the past six months, The MFTs and The Wyatt Sicks have been involved in an ongoing faction war on Friday Night SmackDown.
While this started as a rivalry to prove who the most powerful faction on the blue brand is, it quickly became personal when Solo Sikoa stole the sacred lantern that once belonged to Uncle Howdy’s brother Bray Wyatt.
After trading the WWE Tag Team Championships, all that is left for these two stables to fight over is the lantern and should lead to one final clash to blow off this feud.
Despite the length of this rivalry and feeling worthy of the WrestleMania 42 card, there might not be room on the lineup for these two factions to finally bring things to its natural conclusion.

2. GUNTHER vs. Rey Mysterio

Over the course of the past year, GUNTHER has established himself as “The Career Killer” thanks to his win over Goldberg and John Cena in their final matches.
To further cement his new moniker, GUNTHER added AJ Styles to his list of vanquished legends when he beat “The Phenomenal One” in a retirement match at WWE Royal Rumble 2026.
Reports and rumors indicated that “The Ring General” was scheduled to face yet another legendary name come WrestleMania 42 with a bout against WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio.
However, an injury to Mysterio has caused a change to that scheduled bout and might see the WWE Hall of Famer missing Mania for a second year in a row thanks to injury.
1. Seth Rollins vs. Bron Breakker

Speaking of GUNTHER, “The Ring General” made his return to WWE on the March 30 edition of Monday Night Raw by attacking Seth Rollins to set up his match for WrestleMania 42.
For months, it seemed like Rollins was on a collision course with his former Vision stablemate Bron Breakker after he orchestrated the attack that led to “The Visionary” being excommunicated from the group he created.
However, an emergency hernia surgery for Breakker led to that match being postponed to a later date despite his recent efforts to make a return.
While this could have been one of the most anticipated grudge matches on the WrestleMania 42 card, it does not seem like Breakker and Rollins are meant to be for this year’s “Show of Shows.”
