WWE main roster star to replace Cruz Montana in NXT: Two Raw & SmackDown names that Robert Stone could sign to his show

Cruz Montana in WWE NXT

Monday’s episode of WWE Raw saw a major development in the ongoing war between The Bloodline and The 946, as NXT’s Cruz Montana debuted by laying out Roman Reigns and aligning with Royce Keys.

While Montana very much fits the 946 mold, his addition to the group was surprising given that he only just arrived in NXT back in July.

With the NXT roster now down one big main event level star, it may be time for Robert Stone to look to Raw and SmackDown for another new signing.

Grayson Waller has proven how beneficial a move back to NXT can be, and there are many more names across the main roster that could also benefit from the same move.

Here are two main roster WWE stars to potentially replace Cruz Montana in NXT:

Baron Corbin

Baron Corbin is someone that is no stranger to making the move from WWE’s main roster to NXT, having previously reivitalized his own WWE career back in 2023 by making that very move.

Corbin very much needed that refresh back in 2023 following stints as Happy Corbin and JBL’s “Modern Day Wrestling God,” in 2026 however, Corbin isn’t in anywhere near as bad a spot, in fact he has had a very successful second stint in WWE after returning to the company in July.

That doesn’t mean he couldn’t benefit from a change of scenery though, as there really isn’t a great amount of clear and obvious plans for him on Friday nights.

“The Nomad” currently finds himself off TV, selling the effects of a punt kick from Cody Rhodes on the October 16 SmackDown. Given that he’s already off TV, he could easily be switched over to NXT for a spell; giving NXT a main event level talent, and allowing Corbin to build some momentum before eventually coming back to get some revenge on Rhodes.

Otis

It’s a shame that WWE never capitalized on Otis’ popularity back in 2024 during Chad Gable’s heel run, as some two years later, the former Money in the Bank winner is languishing without any creative direction.

Despite his lack of push, Otis remains one of the most popular figures in WWE when he does show up. Fans want to see him achieve success, but opportunities to give them what they want keep passing WWE by.

With Alpha Academy seemingly unlikely to get a shot at the World Tag Team Titles any time soon, WWE should be looking at moving Otis to NXT for a singles run, as he would make for a credible babyface contender for the NXT Championship in Cruz Montana’s absence.
