WWE's Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton and Pat McAfee

On the April 3 edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown, Pat McAfee was revealed as Randy Orton’s mystery caller that has been helping unlock this more diabolical side of himself.

This led to McAfee and Orton putting a beating on Rhodes, while disparaging him and the entire company.

This new alliance between Orton and McAfee should be very important with mere weeks away from “The Legend Killer” looking to capture the Undisputed WWE Championship from Rhodes at WrestleMania 42.

Here are seven potential WWE future plans for Pat McAfee and Randy Orton.

7. Another Attack On Cody Rhodes

On the March 13 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, Randy Orton turned heel on Cody Rhodes in a brutal and bloody beatdown.

Rhodes has been hell bent on getting revenge ever since, but saw his attempt to get even with “The Viper” thwarted by Pat McAfee on the April 3 SmackDown.

This alliance between McAfee and Orton delivered another attack with a steel chair on Rhodes, and with the pair having a numbers advantage over Cody, it’s not difficult to imagine another two-on-one attack coming soon.

Orton and McAfee weakening Rhodes would make their mission to take the Undisputed WWE Championship from him easier with WrestleMania 42 fast approaching.

6. Starting Their Own Faction Looking To Save The Business

After revealing himself as Randy Orton’s mystery caller on the April 3 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, Pat McAfee cut a scathing promo that ripped apart the current state of WWE.

McAfee talked about how he was disgusted with where the business was heading and the current status of the company heading into WrestleMania 42.

Wanting to save the business and bring it back to new heights, McAfee has aligned with Orton to make sure that “The Viper” is the man on top and not Rhodes.

McAfee and Orton could start their own faction in the fallout of Mania with the specific goal of saving the business for the better.

5. Tag Team Match Against Cody Rhodes & Matt Cardona

Following Randy Orton’s heel turn on Cody Rhodes, Matt Cardona confronted “The Legend Killer” about his actions towards their mutual friend.

This led to Orton attacking Cardona backstage before eventually delivering another beatdown in the ring.

This beatdown ended with Orton Pillmanizing Cardona’s arm with a steel chair, leading to the two men facing each other in a singles match on the March 27 episode of SmackDown with “The Viper” winning in short order.

Pairing Rhodes with Cardona against Orton and Pat McAfee in a tag team match would be an intriguing way to further push this new alliance ahead of WrestleMania 42.

4. Taking Over Friday Night SmackDown By Assaulting Nick Aldis

Randy Orton aligning with Pat McAfee was a shocking moment that could have further ramifications on Friday Night SmackDown.

General Manager Nick Aldis was not too pleased with this latest attack on Cody Rhodes on the April 3 edition of SmackDown.

Just last year ahead of WrestleMania 41, Orton laid out Aldis with a RKO, which led many fans to believe there would be a match between the two at “The Showcase of the Immortals.”

Ahead of this year’s Mania 42 event, Orton and McAfee could assault Aldis and fully take the reins of SmackDown moving forward.

3. Recruiting Jelly Roll To Their Side

Since Randy Orton turned heel on Cody Rhodes, Jelly Roll has been an integral part of this rivalry heading into WrestleMania 42.

After being pushed down by his former tag team partner during his initial heel turn, Jelly approached Orton backstage, trying to convince him to make things right and be the man who had become a leader for the WWE locker room.

However, Orton continued on his warpath, which led to a pull-apart brawl with Rhodes on the March 27 edition of Friday Night SmackDown. Jelly would come out to separate the two, but he was laid out by Orton with a RKO.

Now that Orton is aligned with Pat McAfee, these two could try to recruit Jelly to their side and have him turn on Cody as well before Mania.

2. McAfee Facing Cody Rhodes In A Singles Match

Following the heel turn of Pat McAfee, this could lead to the former WWE commentator and NFL punter stepping back in the squared circle.

From his initial in-ring debut in WWE NXT to his WrestleMania debut in 2022, McAfee has never been scared to compete against the best that the company has to offer.

Now that he has aligned with Randy Orton, McAfee might want to soften up Rhodes for his new friend ahead of WrestleMania 42.

McAfee facing Rhodes in a singles match could give the remaining two episodes of SmackDown ahead of Mania a compelling matchup that will alter the road to “The Showcase of the Immortals.”

1. Confrontation With Stone Cold Steve Austin

During his heel turn and reveal as the mystery caller, Pat McAfee tore down the current state of WWE, while talking about how things were better during the “Attitude Era.”

This promo saw McAfee bring up some of the famous catchphrases that he remembers repeating as a child like Stone Cold Steve Austin’s “What?” chant.

In the past few months, there have been reports and rumors regarding Austin potentially making a return to the company for an appearance potentially at WrestleMania 42.

Austin could come back and confront this new alliance between Randy Orton and McAfee, while showing his support towards Cody Rhodes to give some further conflict to the stance these two have against the current run the company is on right now.
