Love her or hate her, Blake Monroe may be about to enter a feud on WWE SmackDown that could define the star as a major talent.
Called up to the main roster in June of this year, Blake Monroe wouldn’t have her first SmackDown match until October, when she defeated Giulia.
A second match against Giulia ended with the same result, but Monroe may have bitten off more than she can chew as she sets her sights on a WWE champion:
A larger-than-life star
Whether it was as Mariah May in AEW or as Blake Monroe in WWE, ‘The Glamour’ is certainly larger-than-life and has all the potential to be a top star on the main roster.
A former AEW Women’s World Champion, her move to NXT in June of last year would later see Monroe become Women’s North American Champion.
There’s little doubt that her feud with Timeless Toni Storm, which saw her go from adoring fan to friend to bitter enemy, elevated the then-Mariah May to even greater heights, with WWE being in an ideal outlet to take her talents even further.
The new feud
Coming off the back of her rivalry with Giulia, this week’s WWE SmackDown teased a possible new feud for Monroe, who is targeting Chelsea Green and the Women’s Championship.
A backstage segment on the October 30 episode of WWE SmackDown saw Monroe say:
“It’s clear to anyone with eyes or common sense, Blake Monroe is world championship material and, quite frankly, Chelsea is choking under the pressure, and here I am, ready to step into…”
Sadly, for Monroe, her statement would be cut short by Paige, who warned:
“Just because you win one match doesn’t make you championship material.”
Not to be undermined, Monroe would initially adore Paige, before sticking the proverbial knife in, declaring:
“Paige, Paige, Paige, I have to stop you. I am such a huge fan… or, I was, a decade ago.”
Paige would note, “baby, everyone always is”, before Monroe would interrupt once again, warning:
“Word of advice, don’t stick your nose where it doesn’t belong.”
Teeing up the feud to come, Paige would have the final word, stating:
“And, word of advice, watch your mouth.”

A match is yet to be set, but it is no doubt coming, with plenty of opportunity to build up to it through interactions elsewhere on SmackDown.
A clash of personalities makes the ideal feud
It’s an easy proposition, but two stars with differing personalities, perspectives and intentions build up to an ideal feud, and Paige vs. Blake Monroe on WWE SmackDown has that.
For Paige, she was the outsider, the “different” who became loved by the WWE fandom and continued to be upon her return at WrestleMania 42. Having come through NXT and onto the main roster with her alternative personality pretty much intact, her career was cut short by injury, but her time in AEW saw her able to compete once again.
The first-ever NXT Women’s Champion and a two-time Divas Champion, Paige would capture the AEW Women’s World Championship during her tenure as Saraya, returning to WWE and becoming Women’s Tag Team Champion.
Monroe is also a former Women’s World Champion and is no doubt set to hold a top title on the main roster, yet two televised showings on SmackDown have only provided a taste of what she can do as a star.
A feud between Paige and Blake Monroe will hopefully allow the young star to shine, while reminding stars of the quality of the veteran. Paige has frequently competed on SmackDown and PLEs, offering a clear direction for elevating Monroe by “getting the reps in” and exposing her to an enthusiastic fanbase before seeing her compete for her first main roster title.
Hopefully, this is a feud that will deliver beyond one match.
