Surprises For WWE NXT Heatwave 2026

WWE NXT Heatwave 2026 has a tough task on its hands when the event goes head-to-head with AEW All In London 2026.

With the company trying to counter-program All Elite Wrestling, fans should expect some memorable moments and surprises throughout Heatwave.

From returning stars to dramatic betrayals, there could be some shocking incidents when NXT arrives in Edinburg, Texas.

Here are six potential surprises for WWE NXT Heatwave 2026.

6. Kali Armstrong takes all the gold for herself

Since getting called up from Evolve to NXT, Kali Armstrong has established herself as a threat inside the squared circle.

Armstrong has displayed an impressive combination of size, look, power and athleticism.

It became clear when she arrived on NXT that Armstrong was destined for championship gold.

Now with her title unification match against Wren Sinclair and ZARIA at WWE NXT Heatwave 2026, it would not be surprising to see Kali Armstrong walk out of Texas as the new WWE Speed Women’s and NXT Women’s North American Champion.

5. Tony D’Angelo says goodbye to NXT

There might not be anyone in more danger of losing their title at WWE NXT Heatwave 2026 than Tony D’Angelo.

At the PLE. D’Angelo will defend the NXT Championship in a four-way against Grayson Waller, Cruz Montana and Zilla Fatu.

With the odds being against him, this could be the end of the road for not only D’Angelo reign, but his entire five-year run on the NXT brand.

After long being one of the cornerstones of the brand, Tony D has more than proven himself ready for the main roster and should say goodbye to NXT following Heatwave 2026.

4. Layla Diggs returns to throw in the towel for Nattie against Jaida Parker

In July, Layla Diggs suffered a serious arm injury that has forced her to be sidelined since then.

Prior to this injury, Diggs had joined forces with Nattie in her new Dungeon stable with Karmen Petrovic and Nikkita Lyons.

Coming up at WWE NXT Heatwave 2026, Nattie will look to finish her rivalry with Jaida Parker in a Submission Match.

After her mentor chastised her for getting hurt, Layla Diggs may return to throw in the towel for Nattie to cost her this bout against Ms. Parker at WWE NXT Heatwave 2026.

3. Elio LeFleur returns

Back in March, Elio LeFleur was deemed medically disqualified to compete after suffering a shoulder injury.

The masked man has made a name for himself on the NXT brand and had just won the WWE Speed Championship.

While he was given a six-month road to recovery, there is a chance LeFleur could make an early comeback.

LeFleur making his return might thrust him right back into the spotlight at WWE NXT Heatwave 2026.

2. Wren Sinclair turns on Kendal Grey

Over the past year, Kendal Grey and Wren Sinclair has become the best of friends.

Through hard work and perseverance, Grey and Sinclair have grown into two of the best in NXT.

Now heading into WWE NXT Heatwave 2026, Kendal is the reigning NXT Women’s Champion, while Wren is the current WWE Speed Champion.

If Wren loses her title while her best friend retains, fans could see the leader of the WrenQCC snap and betray Kendal at Heatwave 2026.

1. The Bloodline helps Zilla Fatu become the new NXT Champion

Zilla Fatu became the latest member of the Samoan family dynasty to sign with WWE.

In his first official match in the company, Fatu will face Tony D’Angelo, Cruz Montana and Grayson Waller for the NXT Championship in the main event of Heatwave 2026.

Wanting to bring more gold to The Bloodline, Zilla could have some backup in Edinburg.

With help from The Bloodline, there might not be anything stopping Zilla from winning the top prize on NXT.
