On the March 2 episode of Monday Night Raw, Roman Reigns will make his return to start the road to WWE WrestleMania 42.

With Reigns set to challenge CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship at the event, there is a lot that could be done to build this Mania headliner as well as other stories involving ‘The OTC.’

From interactions with characters closely linked to him to further building his Punk match, the plans for Reigns could vary between both Raw and SmackDown to fully capitalize on his star power.

Here are six potential Roman Reigns WWE plans before WrestleMania 42.

6. Reunion With The Usos

Back at WWE Crown Jewel 2025, an errant spear from Jey Uso led to Roman Reigns losing to Bronson Reed.

Following his loss, Reigns read his cousins The Usos the riot act and told them that he did not want to see them until Christmas. However, ‘The OTC’ made his return ahead of Survivor Series 2025 to team with his family, Cody Rhodes and CM Punk.

This caused another loss for Reigns in the men’s WarGames at the event with little interaction with Jimmy and Jey.

On the road to WrestleMania 42, fans could see Reigns reunite with The Usos and get back on the same page before his huge showdown with Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship at ‘The Showcase of the Immortals.’

5. Motivating Jacob Fatu To Win The Undisputed WWE Championship

In 2024, Jacob Fatu made his WWE debut and aligned himself with Solo Sikoa in his New Bloodline stable.

During his time with the group, Fatu went toe-to-toe on several occasions with Roman Reigns in some memorable confrontations.

With Reigns mostly featured on Monday Night Raw, ‘The Samoan Werewolf’ has risen to main event status on SmackDown and is looking to get an opportunity at the Undisputed WWE Championship.

Considering Fatu is on the outside looking in on the title picture heading into WrestleMania 42, Roman Reigns could become a motivator for his cousin to eventually win the Undisputed WWE Championship either before or at ‘The Show of Shows.’

4. Giving Sami Zayn A Pep Talk

Another SmackDown star that might be in need of some motivation from Roman Reigns is Sami Zayn.

At WWE Royal Rumble 2026, Drew McIntyre defeated Zayn to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship.

Since this 12th straight loss to McIntyre, Zayn has been frustrated with his current position and being on the outside looking in for another chance to become a world champion for the first time.

Getting a pep talk from his former ‘Tribal Chief,’ Zayn could receive one final push from Roman Reigns, which might lead to him turning heel or persevering to become a contender for the WWE Title once again.

3. Confrontation With Brock Lesnar & Paul Heyman

On the February 23 edition of WWE Raw, Brock Lesnar made his return to the company for the first time since Royal Rumble 2026.

This led to Paul Heyman issuing an open challenge on Lesnar’s behalf for WrestleMania 42.

With Lesnar set to be a major part of the WrestleMania build, it feels like a no-brainer to have Roman Reigns interact with his longtime rival and his former ‘Wise Man.’

Reigns confronting Lesnar and Heyman might be a good way to feature these major stars and lead to the eventual name who will answer the open challenge mere weeks ahead of ‘The Grandest Stage of Them All.’

2. Contract Signing With CM Punk

Roman Reigns and CM Punk are set to confront one another on the March 2 episode of Monday Night Raw.

While this should be an intriguing segment based on their last interaction with one another, WWE will have to come up with creative ways for these two megastars to build to WrestleMania 42.

Now that Punk defeated Finn Balor to retain the World Heavyweight Championship at WWE Elimination Chamber 2026, it might be time for the champion and challenger for WrestleMania 42 to make things official.

A contract signing between Punk and Reigns would set the groundwork for what WWE is calling one of the greatest WrestleMania main events of all time.

1. Teaming With CM Punk To Face The Vision

Another way to feature both CM Punk and Roman Reigns on the road to WrestleMania 42 is by placing them in a team together.

At WWE Survivor Series 2025, Reigns and Punk teamed together and even had a display of respect for one another despite taking the loss alongside Cody Rhodes and The Usos to The Vision, Drew McIntyre and Brock Lesnar in the men’s WarGames.

Wanting to redeem themselves against the faction that has made both of their lives a living hell, WWE may want to set up a dysfunctional tag team with Punk and Reigns in the weeks ahead of WrestleMania 42.

Punk and Reigns teaming to face The Vision would be a compelling scenario that might see their animosity towards one another reach a boiling point, making their main event showdown at Mania even more suspenseful.
