With AEW Full Gear now in the books, all of the company’s attention will be towards building their next pay-per-view offering: AEW Worlds End, which takes place on Saturday, December 27 from the NOW Arena in Chicago, IL.

Considering all the drama of Full Gear we may have an indication as to what some of the company’s plans may be for their final major event of 2025.

Here are our predictions for the AEW Worlds End 2025 card.

AEW World Trios Championships – The Opps (c) vs. Eddie Kingston & Brodido

AEW's Eddie Kingston and Hook

The closing stages of the AEW Full Gear main event between Hangman Adam Page and Samoa Joe saw a shock heel turn, as HOOK entered the Steel Cage and struck Page with the AEW World Title, Samoa Joe then capitalised and delivered a Muscle Buster for the win shortly thereafter.

After hitting Page with the gold, HOOK unzipped his jacket to reveal that he was wearing an Opps t-shirt, officially re-aligning with the group that he had become estranged from for much of the year.

This new allegiance leaves one big question: where does this leave Eddie Kingston? HOOK had been teaming with Kingston since his return to action at AEW All Out in September, but it seems clear that the “Mad King” had no idea of what his partner would end up doing during the Full Gear main event.

While Kingston could also join The Opps, it seems far more likely that he finds some friends and attempts to fight the group at Worlds End; with Brodido seeming like a potential option after dropping their AEW World Tag Titles at Full Gear. Considering Joe is now AEW World Champion, he may decide to pass on his AEW Trios Title to HOOK, who can then defend it alongside Katsuyori Shibata and Powerhouse Hobbs at Worlds End.

AEW World Tag Team Championships Ladder Match – FTR (c) vs. Cope & Christian Cage

AEW's FTR, Adam Copeland and Christian Cage

Speaking of the AEW World Tag Team Championships, FTR were the team who successfully dethroned Brodido at Full Gear – with Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler tying the record with three title reigns.

It has been a long road to get there, but it feels as if FTR’s win may finally lead to they and the legendary duo of Adam Copeland & Christian Cage duking it out for the tag titles.

With Cope taking time off after Dax and Cash Spike Piledrivered his wife Beth Phoenix at All Out, enough time has passed where fans will be eagerly anticipating “The Rated R Superstar” and Christian getting themselves some revenge on the “Top Guys”.

Almost 25 years since their last tag team championship reign together, Cope and Christian winning the AEW World Tag Team Titles would be an emotional moment and something we could potentially see as soon as Worlds End. Even better still, AEW could make it a Ladder Match to up the nostalgia factor even more when they hold those titles aloft.

AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championships – Sisters of Sin (c) vs. Timeless Love Bombs

With the first of two AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship tournament semi-finals set to take place on this Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite Thanksgiving Eve, it seems likely that we will see the inaugural champions crowned well before we get to Worlds End on December 27.

What we could see however, is the new champions defend their gold for the first time at the event.

While it does feel like a bit of a toss up as to who will come out on top out of the four teams left, the Sisters of Sin (Julia Hart & Skye Blue) are the most established duo left by far – so it’d be nice to see them rewarded by taking home the gold.

They may find the odds stacked against them in their first defense however, as any combination of the pairing out of the three teams could be seeking the chance to claim the gold. While another multi-team match could happen, given that we just saw a four corners match at Full Gear, it’d perhaps be preferable to see just the Timeless Love Bombs solely step up to challenge the Sisters of Sin at Worlds End.

AEW National Championship – Ricochet (c) vs. Bobby Lashley

The Casino Gauntlet Match at AEW Full Gear saw number three entrant Ricochet sneak a win to become the inaugural AEW National Champion.

However, he certainly didn’t make any friends in his victory, with members of JetSpeed, Death Riders, Conglomeration and crucially The Hurt Syndicate all targeting him.

With Ricochet using Gates of Agony to take out Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin and MVP early in the Casino Gauntlet, it seems like an inevitability that some revenge may be on the cards in the coming weeks.

While it could very well be Benjamin who gets the first crack at Ricochet’s new title, Lashley is the bigger name and seems more likely to be picked for a big one-on-one pay-per-view match against Ricochet at Worlds End.

The Conglomeration & Darby Allin vs. Death Riders

AEW's Jon Moxley

For the second straight match, Jon Moxley tapped out to Kyle O’Reilly at AEW Full Gear – leaving the future of the Death Riders in more doubt than ever.

Given that PAC secured a win over Darby Allin earlier in the night, it may not be long before Moxley’s followers lose confidence in their leader and remove him from power for good.

While that could happen in the build to Worlds End, it seems more likely that one more big loss for Moxley will be the straw that breaks the camel’s back – with that turn coming after a big multi-person war with The Conglomeration and Darby Allin.

PAC, Claudio Castagnoli or someone new altogether replacing Moxley would not only provide the Death Riders with some fresh direction, but also free up Moxley to perhaps finally take some well earned time off, before returning with a new babyface character in 2026.

AEW Women’s World Championship – Kris Statlander (c) vs. Megan Bayne

AEW Women's World Champion Kris Statlander and Megan Bayne

Despite holding a staggering 13 different championships, the AEW Women’s World Championship continues to elude Mercedes Moné as Kris Statlander successfully defended her gold against “The CEO” at Full Gear.

While that certainly leaves Mercedes’ future in the main event picture looking uncertain, for Statlander it is also not super clear who could be next to step up to the plate for her title.

Perhaps standing taller than other contenders, figuratively and literally, is Megan Bayne – who has been utterly dominant since arriving in AEW almost a year ago.

Bayne vs. Statlander provides a truly evenly matched contest that could go either way, making for an exciting proposition at Worlds End.

The Don Callis Family vs. The Elite & Jurassic Express

AEW Full Gear saw the cathartic reunion of The Elite in full, as The Young Bucks and Kenny Omega reunited at long last.

However, in doing so The Bucks made some enemies in the form of The Don Callis Family, who may be looking for some semblance of revenge at AEW’s next pay-per-view offering.

Given Callis’ strength in depth within his family they could easily field a team of five to take on Omega, The Bucks and Jurassic Express in a multi-man match on December 27.

Whether more money is put up for grabs or it has a different kind of stipulation, fans will be anticipating seeing The Elite compete alongside each other once again on pay-per-view.

AEW Continental Classic Final – Kazuchika Okada vs. Konosuke Takeshita

AEW stars Konosuke Takeshita and Kazuchika Okada

It has been building for quite some time now, but it feels like the clash between Kazuchika Okada and Konosuke Takeshita is finally set to become a reality via the 2025 Continental Classic tournament.

After the Don Callis Family’s CMLL Trios Title loss to El Sky Team at Full Gear, it was announced that Takeshita would be joining the reigning AEW Continental Classic winner and AEW Unified Champion Okada in this year’s tournament, along with fellow family member Kyle Fletcher.

While Fletcher may come close to winning the whole thing, it seems like this tournament is tailor made to serve as the blow off to the Okada and Takeshita issue once and for all.

Finally seeing Takeshita turn babyface in the process, this match would have the potential to steal the show in Chicago.

AEW World Championship – Samoa Joe (c) vs. Hangman Adam Page vs. Swerve Strickland

AEW World Champion Samoa Joe with Hangman Page and Swerve Strickland

In a result very few fans would have seen coming, Samoa Joe brutally ripped the AEW World Championship from Hangman Adam Page at Full Gear with the help of The Opps.

What happened after the bell however, had fans buzzing even more so, as former AEW World Champion, and long-time rival of Page, Swerve Strickland made his anticipated return to fight off Joe’s goons and save Page.

With Page and Swerve both side-by-side it’s difficult to anticipate who will be first to challenge Joe for his title, leading to the logical answer that AEW could just book a three-way for AEW’s top men’s prize at Worlds End instead.

Not only would this match test the strength of Swerve and Page’s new bond, but also stack the deck firmly against Joe, who may need to rely on his Opps yet again to escape Worlds End with his AEW World Title.
