All WWE feuds run their course eventually, but a select few are worth revisiting once enough time has passed since their ending.
With years between interactions, once stale or played out rivalries can feel fresh once again, and they can often take an entirely new form than they did in the past due to characters evolving over the years.
Here are three past rivalries we could see WWE revisit in the near future.
CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre
When discussing the best WWE feuds of this decade Drew McIntyre vs. CM Punk has a strong argument for the top spot. The pair brought the very best out of each other, and McIntyre especially had everyone believing that his hatred for Punk was very much legit – which it very well could be.
Their promo battles often blurred the lines between reality and storyline and their meetings inside the ring all delivered, particularly their Hell in a Cell classic at Bad Blood 2024.
McIntyre and Punk somehow got fans thoroughly invested in a bracelet of all things, which became the centrepiece of the feud. While some made fun of this, it’s a testament to the two performers that they got fans to care about something seemingly so insignificant.
With McIntyre’s return potentially nearing, and CM Punk now a resident of his brand of SmackDown, it seems inevitable that they cross paths again unless WWE opt to move “The Scottish Warrior” to Raw instead.
Damian Priest vs. Finn Balor
Another 2024 feud that could be revisited is a clash of former Judgment Day brethren: Damian Priest vs. Finn Balor.
As a prime example of characters evolving over time, Priest and Balor are now on the opposite side of the morality spectrum than they were when they last faced off, with Damian Priest now a heel and Balor a babyface.
What is the same about them though is their brand. Priest and Balor are now also on SmackDown together, making it less likely that they can avoid each other’s orbit forever.
Both have also been clear about their ambition to pursue championship gold, so we could see them cross paths on their respective journeys to make that happen.
Sami Zayn vs. Roman Reigns
While their are concerns about whether the event will be going ahead, WWE Crown Jewel is currently planned for November 7 in Saudi Arabia, and as fans will know, the event has become known for its champion vs. champion matches.
Since 2024, WWE has pitted their men’s and women’s world champions against each other for the WWE Crown Jewel Championship. While the title offers little more than bragging rights, it does bring two stars against each other that wouldn’t usually interact.
This year however, the two world champions who could be walking into Crown Jewel have plenty of history both as allies and rivals: Sami Zayn and Roman Reigns.
Zayn and Reigns’ story is well documented, and both have been responsible for some of the others’ best moments of their careers. With Zayn now a paranoid heel Undisputed WWE Champion rather than ‘The Honorary Uce’ it’ll be interesting to see how ‘The OTC’ and the rest of The Bloodline react to his character change, and how it will impact the kind of match they have at Crown Jewel.
