Back in 2024, AEW adopted an authority figure for the first time in the company’s history across Dynamite and Collision.
After The Young Bucks started to enforce their power as EVPs, Tony Khan selected Christopher Daniels as an authority figure to counteract them.
While this role was only temporary, AEW could potentially revisit the idea by introducing a General Manager to serve as an authority figure for Dynamite.
Here are seven potential new AEW Dynamite General Managers.
7. Don Callis

One of the best non-wrestlers in the entire business today is definitely Don Callis.
Serving as the leader of the Don Callis Family, the Winnipeg native has used a litany of stars like Kyle Fletcher, Konosuke Takeshita and Kazuchika Okada to take down his enemies and win championship gold.
Whether it be his long standing rivalry with Kenny Omega or talking up his Family on commentary, Callis has been an essential part of AEW programming over the course of the past few years.
Having Callis transition to an authority figure role could work to use his superb talking ability and character work to add a new element to the company’s flagship show.

6. Stokely Hathaway

Back in 2023, Ring of Honor adopted their own authority figures on their weekly programming.
Chosen as part of the Board of Directors, Stokely Hathaway worked alongside Jerry Lynn to be a matchmaker and maintain some order in the company.
Stokely has since become the manager for FTR and guided them back to the AEW World Tag Team Championships.
With his hilarious antics and one-liners, Stokely could bring his brand of humor and heel work to the AEW Dynamite General Manager role in a way that would be unique to him.

5. Paul Wight

On the January 24 episode of AEW Collision, Paul Wight made his return to the company’s television when he joined Excalibur and Tony Schiavone at the commentary desk.
Throughout his run with All Elite Wrestling that started in 2021, Wight has served mostly as a commentator and as an ambassador for the company.
Being one of the most recognizable wrestlers of his generation, Wight could bring his star power to AEW programming more regularly.
Wight becoming an AEW Dynamite General Manager would be interesting to see how he is able to interact with members of the roster moving forward.

4. Jeff Jarrett

At the start of 2025, Jeff Jarrett signed a new contract with All Elite Wrestling and staked his claim to go after the AEW World Title.
However, this quest for the top prize in AEW was short-lived after Jarrett’s storyline was written off television.
The company could find a new position for Jarrett to return to television in a prominent spot like AEW Dynamite General Manager.
Jarrett as GM would create some compelling stories considering his history with the likes of MJF and “Hangman” Adam Page that could see some new directions for top talent on the roster.

3. Nigel McGuinness

Since arriving in All Elite Wrestling in 2022, Nigel McGuinness has established himself as one of the best and most reliable commentators in the company.
McGuinness has also put his wrestling boots back on and stepped back into the squared circle on several different occasions.
Whether it be against his longtime rival Bryan Danielson or teaming with Daniel Garcia against FTR at AEW Double Or Nothing 2025, Nigel has shown himself as a dependable individual who can fill a few different roles for the promotion.
Considering his experience as a ROH Matchmaker, Nigel McGuinness feels like someone who could play the role of AEW Dynamite General Manager superbly.

2. Sting

Debuting for All Elite Wrestling in 2020, Sting became one of the biggest legends to ever sign with the company.
Over the next four years, Sting established himself as one of the most dominant in-ring competitors in the company’s history with an undefeated streak throughout his entire run.
After retiring at AEW Revolution 2024, “The Icon” has only made a few appearances despite still being under contract with the promotion.
Sting returning to become AEW Dynamite General Manager would create some intriguing storylines where he could play a crucial role in creating some balance with matchmaking and consequences for the actions of the stars on the roster.

1. Bryan Danielson

Back at AEW WrestleDream 2024, Jon Moxley defeated Bryan Danielson to win the AEW World Championship and end Bryan’s full-time in-ring career.
With the damage done to his neck, Danielson has made the transition to the commentary desk and has become an announcer on AEW Dynamite.
Bryan is another individual who has experience as an authority figure, having served as the SmackDown GM during his final run with WWE.
Moving to an authority figure role, Bryan Danielson has shown that he has the respect and maintain order over a place like AEW due to his credentials and reputation.
