Recently facing John Cena at Crown Jewel 2025, Cena and AJ Styles put on a memorable showing that featured each doing finishers of some of their favorite past opponents.

Taking to social media to comment after WWE’s recent tour in Japan, Shinsuke Nakamura was thoughtful about having performed in his home country.

Nakamura noted that John Cena and AJ Styles electing to step away from in-ring action soon has led him to consider his future plans, and his time “might not be far off.”

Going on to add that he didn’t know what tomorrow would hold, Nakamura could be looking to wrap up his own in-ring career in the next few years.

While other WWE stars may be looking to wrap up their in-ring careers for literal retirement, in the case of Roman Reigns he, may follow in the footsteps of The Rock & John Cena.

Capturing more Hollywood roles, Reigns could elect to retire from in-ring competition in WWE – for now.

Potentially leaving the door open for a return in the future including a farewell tour similar to John Cena, the Tribal Chief could be eyeing an actual in-ring retirement later down the line.

Able to come back to WWE as storylines or schedules permit, there could be some big moments left with Roman Reigns before fans finally say goodbye for good.

2. Randy Orton

While Randy Orton has already had a storied and decorated career in professional wrestling, he doesn’t seem entirely ready to hang up his boots just yet.

Noting that he is aware he is in the latter part of his career, Orton still plans on continuing wrestling for a bit longer.

Commenting that he is contracted with WWE until 2029, Orton expects to continue wrestling until he is 50 years old and will revisit the idea of retirement at that point.

Maintaining a fan favorite status for years, Orton continues to wrestle as a babyface albeit potentially with teases that before he’s done in WWE, he might be an evil heel one more time.

Signing with WWE in November 2023, it wasn’t clear how long CM Punk was going to stick around in the company.

Going on to be happy in WWE – even recently rejoined in the company by his wife AJ Lee – Punk seems content.

Potentially eying a retirement while still able to perform in top form, Punk could be looking to wrap up his in-ring career over the next few years.

Able to still return to feature as an attraction star even when he isn’t interested in the grueling touring schedule, Punk still has a lot of stories tell before properly retiring.
