With WWE Backlash 2025 quickly approaching, the card has continued to grow to include several big matches.
However, there are others that seemed as though they were happening that have ended up not coming to fruition at all with the event this coming Saturday.
Here are seven WWE Backlash matches that seemed likely at one point but that have still yet to be announced.
7. Finn Balor vs. Dominik Mysterio
Dominik Mysterio captured the Intercontinental Championship at WWE WrestleMania 41, pinning his Judgment Day teammate Finn Balor.
Although he was able to win the title in a multi-man match, he will now need to defend it in a one-on-one bout at Backlash 2025.
While it seemed as though the manner in which Mysterio captured gold was the perfect way for he and Finn Balor to finally come to blows – it appears there is still a chapter between that has yet to be revealed.
Now that Mysterio’s match for Backlash has actually been officially confirmed to be against Penta, perhaps the inevitable disintegration of the Judgment Day will come in St Louis.

6. Jacob Fatu vs. Solo Sikoa
After Jacob Fatu beat LA Knight for the United States Championship at WrestleMania 41, it appeared that Solo Sikoa might have attempted a hostile takeover of the gold.
However, Sikoa has seemingly fallen in line behind Fatu – for now, at least.
Now it seems that Fatu will face an even more challenging gauntlet if he wants to retain the United States Championship at Backlash 2025.
Fatu has been confirmed to be facing LA Knight, Damian Priest and Drew McIntyre in a four-way match for the title – a match that was made because of Sikoa running his mouth to Nick Aldis.

5. Seth Rollins & Bron Breakker vs Roman Reigns & CM Punk
While this match could absolutely main event a premium live event, since John Cena is already taking on Randy Orton at Backlash 2025, perhaps that is why big showdown doesn’t seem to be happening.
After Paul Heyman’s betrayal of both CM Punk and Roman Reigns at WWE WrestleMania 41, it looked like there could be a future showdown coming for Backlash.
When Seth Rollins revealed himself to also be aligned with Bron Breakker, the post-Mania Raw appeared to set up a tag team match, which some fans anticipated could have taken place at Backlash.
However, no such match has come to fruition, at least not yet.

4. Tiffany Stratton vs. Nia Jax
Tiffany Stratton was able to survive Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 41, only to be attacked by Nia Jax on the SmackDown after Mania in a surprise return.
While Nia Jax seemed like a likely opponent for Stratton at Backlash – given that Tiffany captured the title from Jax by cashing in her Money in the Bank briefcase in the first place – it won’t be that straightforward.
Instead, the feud has seemingly opened up as Jade Cargill and Naomi are now involved as well, and a #1 contenders match between Cargill and Jax is set to take place on SmackDown.
In theory, that could still eventually result in Stratton vs Jax at Backlash, but it looks a lot less likely at this point

3. Rhea Ripley & IYO SKY vs. Roxanne Perez & Giulia
Former NXT Women’s Champions Roxanne Perez and Giulia have formed an alliance and, despite still being considered NXT stars, have appeared weekly on Raw since Mania.
Over the past couple of weeks, they’ve specifically been targeting Women’s World Champion IYO SKY and Rhea Ripley.
Immediately feuding with the top of the women’s division on Raw, the pair of NXT stars seemed as though they could end up in a tag team match at Backlash 2025 against Ripley and SKY.
However, instead the match has been announced for next week’s Raw.

2. Sami Zayn vs. Jey Uso
Fans were still thrilled with Jey Uso having won the WWE World Championship at WrestleMania 41 when they were pleasantly surprised by the return of Sami Zayn to join the celebration on Raw.
However, the gasps from the audience were audible when Uso had his back to Zayn and Sami started moving forward, seemingly planting the seeds for a betrayal.
Instead, the pair hugged and remained one of the most heartwarming pairs in all of WWE, although there have still been some awkward glances between them.
Given Zayn’s goal to one day to add a world title to his own list of accolades, in the event he does turn on Jey, the betrayal could be historic.

1. Jey Uso vs. Logan Paul
After Logan Paul began feuding with Jey Uso, it seemed that Uso’s first title defense could have come at Backlash 2025 against the social media star.
However, no such match has been announced and rather their rivalry has continued.
After WWE Raw went off the air on Netflix on May 5, Uso got an unfortunate surprise when saying his goodbyes to the crowd – a punch from Logan Paul who was hiding in plain sight.
While clearly there is unfinished business between the two, this match may be reserved for the next WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event scheduled for May 24, 2025, or another future show.
