The February 27 episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown kicked off with the backstage area reacting to Jey Uso being attacked by a mystery assailant.
After being stretchered out of the building, Uso was replaced in the men’s Elimination Chamber due to his injuries by Logan Paul.
With the identity of his attacker currently unknown, it seems like this will be an ongoing story for fans to follow and figure out who was behind this assault.
Here are seven potential options for the Jey Uso WWE mystery attacker.
7. Drew McIntyre

After Jey Uso was seen laid out by a mystery attacker backstage, it was Undisputed WWE Champion Drew McIntyre who came to the ring to kick off the broadcast.
Considering his nonchalant reaction to the attack of Uso, many fans and other stars believed that McIntyre could be behind this assault.
Jacob Fatu would later accuse ‘The Scottish Warrior’ of this attack, bringing up the accusations against Drew attacking Fatu himself months prior.
With his history with Jey and his participation in the men’s Elimination Chamber, it seems realistic to imagine McIntyre could have decided to take out one of his possible challengers before the PLE from Chicago.

6. Jacob Fatu

During a backstage segment on the February 27 Friday Night SmackDown, Jacob Fatu approached SmackDown GM Nick Aldis and convinced him to consider giving ‘The Samoan Werewolf’ Jey’s spot in the men’s Elimination Chamber.
Despite his evident concern over his cousin’s conditions, Fatu did not hesitate to take advantage of his loss.
This led to Sami Zayn even accusing Fatu of being the attacker, with Jacob taking offense to this claim.
While he is a popular babyface on SmackDown, WWE could go in a different direction where Fatu’s frustration with not qualifying for the men’s Elimination Chamber got to him and he decided to attack Jey to try and take his place in the bout.

5. Trick Williams

Looking at the other participants in the men’s Elimination Chamber, it might be likely that one of the other competitors could have taken out Jey Uso.
Out of the entire field, Trick Williams was the only heel involved in the bout after the supposed final qualifying match on the February 23 episode of Monday Night Raw.
Wanting to take his rightful spot as a favorite to win the Chamber, Trick could have chosen to attack Jey before the PLE.
Trick taking out Jey could set up a tantalizing matchup between the two stars that could culminate at WWE WrestleMania 42.

4. The Vision (Logan Paul & Austin Theory)

In a bit of convenient timing, The Vision’s Paul Heyman, Austin Theory and Logan Paul showed up on Friday Night SmackDown just mere minutes after the attack on Jey Uso.
No stranger to Jey from their time on WWE Raw, The Vision have been a thorn in The Usos’ sides for several months now and vice versa.
It was clear that The Vision wanted one of their members involved in the men’s Elimination Chamber and were willing to do anything to accomplish this goal.
The Vision being the ones behind Jey Uso’s attack would make the most sense and logical fit their characters that they have presented since the group’s formation.

3. Randy Orton

Many fans have speculated and wondered when they could see Randy Orton turn heel again.
Since making his return at WWE Survivor Series 2023, Orton has long been a babyface that has garnered some of the loudest reactions of his entire career.
There have been some rumors regarding Orton potentially turning heel due to wanting one more run as a bad guy before he hangs up his boots.
Orton being revealed as the mystery attacker would pay off his hidden animosity towards the former Bloodline members and show just how low he is willing to go to make his path to WrestleMania 42.

2. Sami Zayn

No one has been going through more inner turmoil with themselves than Sami Zayn.
Ever since losing to Drew McIntyre again for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Royal Rumble 2026, fans have seen a more frustrated version of Zayn who has gotten into it with some of his friends as of late.
Whether it be his recent interactions with Cody Rhodes and Jacob Fatu or being cost his Elimination Chamber qualifier a few weeks back, it might be the right time for Zayn to turn heel for the first time since 2022.
Getting a more aggressive and focused Sami Zayn might be the right direction for his character where he turned his recent struggles on his closest friend in Jey Uso in a bid to take his spot in the Elimination Chamber.

1. Cody Rhodes

On the January 9 edition of SmackDown, Drew McIntyre defeated Cody Rhodes in a Three Stages of Hell Match to win the Undisputed WWE Championship.
Ever since this loss, Rhodes has received some boos from the live crowd on certain episodes on Friday Night SmackDown.
Showing more and more tendencies that are akin to a heel, it feels like Rhodes has the ultimate bad guy under his skin just waiting to come out.
Turning heel for the first time since his WWE return in 2022, Rhodes could be revealed as the individual behind this attack on Jey Uso, betraying one of his closest friends on the entire roster today.
