There is an interesting new development regarding the WWE heel turn of Randy Orton and his plans going forward.
On the March 13 edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown, Randy Orton snapped and turned heel on Cody Rhodes.
Then on the March 16 episode of WWE Raw, Michael Cole interviewed Orton where he was on a phone call with a mystery person who Orton said reminded him who he was and that he was a killer.
Considering the importance that this person played in Orton’s recent heel turn, it should be interesting to see who the other individual on this call was.
Here are eight stars that could be the potential identity of Randy Orton’s WWE phone call on Raw.
8. ‘Cowboy’ Bob Orton

Randy Orton came into WWE and immediately gained attention thanks to being a third-generation star.
Being the son of ‘Cowboy’ Bob Orton, Randy came in with a lot of expectations and pretty much has exceeded those throughout his 23 year run with the company.
Wanting more advice from his father, it is easy to assume that ‘Cowboy’ Bob could be the one who gave his son a call.
‘Cowboy’ Bob Orton appearing to further establish this new heel run for Randy Orton would be a nice way to solidify his line on WWE Raw where he said, “Wrestling has more than one royal family.”
7. Aleister Black

Over the past few weeks, fans have seen Aleister Black becoming a dark angel on the shoulder of Randy Orton.
On the February 20 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, Black defeated Orton in easily the biggest win since his WWE return in 2025.
Black has since been trying to bring out the dark side of Orton, wanting him to embrace his worst impulses to get back to the world championship.
With Orton recently turning heel on Cody Rhodes, it could be Black who inspired this new direction for ‘The Legend Killer.’

6. Ric Flair

Outside of his own father, Randy Orton has received plenty of guidance from the legends of the past.
During his days in Evolution, Orton’s mentor was 16-time world champion and two-time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair.
While he is one of the biggest pro wrestling stars of all time, Flair has not been seen on WWE television for several years with his association with All Elite Wrestling that started in 2023.
However, Orton bringing in Ric Flair, who has plenty of history with Cody Rhodes’ father Dusty Rhodes, would be quite fitting and play into what he said during the interview on Monday Night Raw.
5. Chris Jericho

Randy Orton could have also been talking to someone who has some history and a past with Cody Rhodes.
Over the past year, there has been plenty of speculation in regards to the pro wrestling future of Chris Jericho.
With reports indicating that his AEW contract was set to expire soon, Jericho could walk into a major program on WWE TV.
Jericho being on the other side of the phone call with Orton would be an intriguing route to explore considering his history with Rhodes during their time on AEW programming.

4. Shane McMahon

Someone who has a past with both Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes from years earlier is Shane McMahon.
Back in 2009, McMahon feuded with Orton, Rhodes and Ted Dibiase Jr of Legacy after Randy delivered a punt kick to his father Vince McMahon.
‘Shane O Mac’ has been away from WWE television since 2023 and has become quite estranged from the company in recent years.
Orton speaking with Shane would be surprising and introduce the McMahon family back into WWE storylines for the first time in a while.
3. Kevin Owens

In 2024, Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton and Kevin Owens fought side-by-side to battle Solo Sikoa and The New Bloodline.
Along the way, Owens turned heel on both Orton and Rhodes, kickstarting a rivalry that spanned until the beginning of 2025.
Before Orton was set to face him in a grudge match at WrestleMania 41, Owens announced that he had to be pulled from the card due to a serious neck injury.
After being on the shelf for nearly a year, Owens could still hold animosity against Rhodes and may have mended the fence with Orton, seeing his recent heel turn and knowing his words struck a chord with ‘The Legend Killer.’

2. John Cena

At WWE Elimination Chamber 2025, John Cena shocked the world when he turned heel on Cody Rhodes, aligning himself with The Rock and Travis Scott in a bloody attack.
‘The Never Seen 17’ would go on to feud with Randy Orton and faced his longtime rival in Orton’s hometown of St Louis at WWE Backlash 2025.
While he and Rhodes showed each other respect after their second battle at SummerSlam 2025, Cena could have given Orton the gameplan to win his 15th world championship at WrestleMania 42.
Cena guiding his career rival to turn heel and beat Cody Rhodes could be a compelling story to tell as Orton is shown a path that would allow him to sit back up on top of WWE following ‘The Show of Shows.’
1. The Rock

While it might be the most farfetched of the options at play, The Rock being the identity of Randy Orton’s phone call is by far the most intriguing of them all.
Over the past two years, fans have seen The Rock come back into play on WWE TV to help increase interest in WrestleMania 42.
From his character change as ‘The Final Boss’ to being instrumental in John Cena’s heel turn, The Rock has played a crucial role in bringing more eyes and mainstream attention to the road to WrestleMania in 2024 and 2025.
The Rock returning as a new confidant of Randy Orton and the man that reminded him of being a “killer” would be a shocking turn of events that could garner massive momentum for WWE and continue his own rivalry with Rhodes that has been so important to build of Mania recently.
