WWE WrestleMania 42 is fast approaching and the card has started to take shape for the two-night event from Las Vegas, Nevada.

With all the big time bouts that will take place on April 18 and 19, WWE could add a bit more to the shows by announcing a special guest host for “The Grandest Stage of Them All.”

Considering the legends, current stars and celebrities who could potentially step in for such a role, the company would have a world of possibilities to explore for an individual who can stand front and center to host Mania this year.

Here are seven potential hosts for WWE WrestleMania 42.

7. Danhausen

At WWE Elimination Chamber 2026, Danhausen made his debut as the mystery person inside the crate that had been seen on the company’s programming for weeks prior.

The former AEW star has since become one of the most popular new stars on the WWE roster and has been entertaining in backstage segments on the company’s television.

While he has yet to step inside the squared circle, WWE could figure out another way to highlight Danhausen at this year’s WrestleMania.

Danhausen being the host of Mania 42 would be fitting and help to highlight his eccentric character in a way that can offer some fun interactions throughout the two-night event this April.

6. Kevin Owens

Ahead of WrestleMania 41, Kevin Owens announced that he had to remove himself from the card because he had to undergo emergency neck surgery.

After a year on the shelf, fans have started to see Owens pop up more for special appearances like the recent WWE 2K26 coverage online and John Cena’s Final Match in December 2025.

While he is one of the most feared competitors in WWE, Owens can also be highlighted for his promo and talking ability as well.

Being one of the best talkers and characters in the company today, KO could step in as a special guest host and offer some entertainment without stepping back in the ring to fight right now.

5. Jelly Roll

On the March 13 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, Jelly Roll made his return to WWE and was featured on Miz TV.

The Grammy Award winner got into a disagreement with both The Miz and Kit Wilson, which led to Jelly throwing a knockout punch and landing it on “The A Lister.”

Despite recent reports that Jelly might step back in the ring to compete for the first time since WWE SummerSlam 2025, the company might be better suited to use the country music star in a different role instead.

Jelly Roll being the special guest host of WrestleMania 42 would allow him to interact with current WWE stars without having the physicality that would be needed for an actual match on the lineup.

4. Bad Bunny

Back in 2021, Bad Bunny appeared various times and eventually teamed with Damian Priest to defeat The Miz and John Morrison at the WrestleMania 37 premium live event.

Then, Bunny would once again compete in the 2022 Men’s Royal Rumble and in a win over Priest in a San Juan Street Fight at WWE Backlash 2023.

Since this bout, fans have not seen Bunny step back in the ring in any shape or form over the past few years.

Now after recent reports about WWE having discussions about inviting the Grammy Award winner back into the fold, Bunny could return as the host of WrestleMania 42 and insert himself back in the mix in a major way.

3. Stone Cold Steve Austin

The March 16 episode of WWE Raw came and went without any inclusion or appearance from the creator of “3:16 Day.”

Stone Cold Steve Austin was conspicuous by his absence from the show in San Antonio, Texas, which will undoubtedly lead to some questions about when fans will see him in WWE again.

The last time fans seen Austin appear on WWE programming was when he announced the two-night attendance for WrestleMania 41.

With this year’s Mania 42 taking place from his adopted home state of Nevada, it would be logical to see Austin make another appearance and could work if he comes in as the special guest host of “The Show of Shows.”

2. The Rock

Over the past two years, The Rock has played a crucial role during the road to WrestleMania 40 and 41.

Whether it be his “Final Boss” character from 2024 or his return to facilitate the heel turn of John Cena, The Rock has been pivotal to helping Mania gain traction with a wider audience.

Now, the road to WrestleMania 42 has been a rocky one with ticket sales becoming an internal issue as the number is down from this time last year.

The Rock returning as a special guest host could cause some lapsed fans to want to go to the event and could create a buzz for WrestleMania 42 that isn’t currently there at the moment.

1. John Cena

WWE star John Cena

While The Rock did not appear at WrestleMania 41, the presence of John Cena helped to counteract that fact with last year’s “Showcase of the Immortals,” being largely built around it being the final one for the legendary star.

With Cena retiring from in-ring competition in December 2025, there has been some question around when WWE fans might see him again.

Considering the aforementioned ticket sales for WrestleMania 42, it would make a ton of sense for WWE to once again call upon Cena for his assistance and star power.

Cena returning as the host of WrestleMania 42 might be the only to generate a groundswell of interest into what is going to go down on April 18 and 19 at this point.
