Recently, Matt Hardy revealed that The Hardy Boyz were in talks to potentially make a return to WWE sometime in 2026.
Back in 2025, The Hardy Boyz made their return to the company and appeared several times on the NXT brand, including capturing the NXT Tag Team Championship.
With an expected comeback this year, there could be several different ways for WWE to bring Matt and Jeff Hardy back into the fold over the next 12 months.
Here are six potential Hardy Boyz WWE return plans in 2026.
6. Challenge The Vanity Project for the NXT Tag Team Championship
At the WWE NXT ShowDown event, The Hardy Boyz defeated DarkState to win the NXT Tag Team Championship.
However, DarkState were able to regain the title from Matt and Jeff Hardy in a Broken Rules match at WWE NXT Halloween Havoc 2025.
Since losing the gold, The Hardys have not appeared on WWE NXT, but they should be owed a rematch for the titles.
Now that The Vanity Project are the new NXT Tag Team Champions, The Hardy Boyz could return to challenge Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes for the titles upon their return to the brand.

5. Teaming With The Wyatt Sicks Against The MFTs
Back in 2018, Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt were embroiled in a rivalry that eventually led to the two men forming a tag team.
Becoming a duo known as The Deleters of Worlds, Hardy and Wyatt went on to capture the Raw Tag Team Championships.
Now eight years later, The Wyatt Sicks was created by Bray’s brother Bo Dallas in honor of his late sibling.
WWE could play off Matt and Bray’s history by having The Hardy Boyz make their return to team with The Wyatt Sicks in their ongoing rivalry with The MFTs to use the legendary brothers in a main roster feud.

4. Teaming With Je’Von Evans To Face The Vision On WWE Raw
Over in TNA Wrestling, The Hardy Boyz have become a mentor to current TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater.
Meanwhile, Slater has formed a popular tag team with Je’Von Evans on WWE NXT over the past few months.
Considering all three are from North Carolina, WWE could make a fun trio out of Evans and The Hardy Boyz.
Pitting these three men against The Vision, Evans and The Hardys could deliver a highly entertaining six-man tag team match on Monday Night Raw sometime this year.

3. Leading A TNA Wrestling Invasion On The WWE main roster
In the latter half of 2025, WWE NXT and TNA Wrestling were embroiled in a co-promotional rivalry with one another.
This feud saw stars from NXT invade IMPACT, while talent from TNA Wrestling took over the PC on episodes of NXT.
This all led to the ShowDown event where things were settled for a little while, but TNA Wrestling should take things a little further.
The Hardy Boyz leading a TNA invasion to the WWE main roster could be a compelling storyline and put a major spotlight on the promotion in a significant way.

2. WWE Hall Of Fame Induction
The Hardy Boyz are widely regarded as one of the greatest tag teams in WWE history.
Winning tag team gold in nearly every promotion they have been in, Matt and Jeff Hardy are more than worthy of being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame 2026.
With iconic feuds against The Dudley Boys and Edge & Christian, The Hardys have everything it should take to be celebrated in the Hall of Fame.
Making a return to the company for WrestleMania 42 weekend, The Hardys could be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame class of 2026 this April in Las Vegas, Nevada.

1. Dream Ladder Match with The Usos & The New Day for the World Tag Team Championship At WrestleMania 42
When asked what match they would be willing to make their return to WWE, The Hardy Boyz stated they would love to give fans another dream ladder match on the WrestleMania stage.
Matt Hardy named The Usos and The New Day as the potential tag teams he would love for The Hardy Boyz to clash with in their signature stipulation.
WrestleMania 42 needs some help with marquee matchups on the card for their biggest show of the year, so they could announce The Hardy Boyz vs. The New Day vs. The Usos in a Ladder Match.
Delivering a dream Ladder Match on “The Grandest Stage of Them All,” this would be the best way to give fans a memorable encounter for the World Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania 42.
