Over the past year, GUNTHER has gained even more notoriety by becoming “The Career Killer.”
After retiring Goldberg, John Cena and AJ Styles, it seems like “The Ring General” has gotten a lot of attention in regards to who he could possibly face at WrestleMania 42.
With less than two months away from “The Show of Shows,” it should be extremely interesting to see who the former World Heavyweight Champion faces.
Here are eight potential GUNTHER WWE WrestleMania 42 opponents.
8. Dragon Lee
On the February 2 edition of WWE Raw, Dragon Lee came out to interrupt GUNTHER taunting the fans about his recent win over AJ Styles.
The luchador paid for this decision by “The Ring General” destroying Lee with a sleeper over the top rope.
However, Lee got a measure of revenge by costing GUNTHER his Elimination Chamber qualifying match against Je’Von Evans and Dominik Mysterio on the February 16 Raw.
Lee facing GUNTHER would prove to be the biggest match of his career so far on “The Grandest Stage of Them All” at WrestleMania 42.

7. Rey Mysterio
GUNTHER has picked up some of the biggest victories of his career by retiring John Cena, Goldberg and AJ Styles in succession.
Looking at the WWE roster, Rey Mysterio seems like someone who is winding down his in-ring career.
At 51 years old, Mysterio feels like he has more years behind him than ahead of him at this point right now.
GUNTHER being the one to add Mysterio to his list of legends retired at WrestleMania 42 would be an intriguing way to bolster “The Career Killer” character.

6. Ilja Dragunov
Dating back to his days on NXT UK and NXT, GUNTHER’s greatest rival had to be Ilja Dragunov.
Through a series of intense and brutal battles, GUNTHER and Dragunov showed their fighting spirit and their will to win, trading the NXT UK Championship.
Since getting called up to the WWE main roster, Dragunov has not faced “The Ring General” on WWE TV as of yet.
Dragunov rekindling his rivalry with GUNTHER at WrestleMania 42 could be a potential showstealer on the card that stands out from the two-night lineup.

5. AJ Styles
At WWE Royal Rumble 2026, GUNTHER defeated AJ Styles to end the in-ring career of “The Phenomenal One.”
This looked to be the end of the road for Styles in a WWE ring until a recent announcement on the February 16 episode of Monday Night Raw.
It was revealed that Styles will have a tribute in his home state of Georgia on the February 23 Raw with the roster celebrating the career of the former two-time WWE Champion.
If GUNTHER gets involved with this tribute to once again mock him, Styles might choose to go back on his word and challenge “The Ring General” to one more match at WrestleMania 42.

4. Oba Femi
Ever since making his WWE main roster debut, Oba Femi has showcased his dominance in so many ways.
“The Ruler” entered the 2026 Men’s Royal Rumble Match at the #1 spot and eliminated five competitors in a row.
Despite this impressive showing at the PLE, it seems like Femi hasn’t found a place on the main roster with his free agent status and both major brands trying to secure his services.
It could be GUNTHER who convinces Femi to come to Monday Night Raw and leads to a major showdown on the WrestleMania 42 premium live event.

3. Chris Jericho
It seems like a weekly update in regards to the future of Chris Jericho appears every single week.
Despite reportedly having his AEW contract frozen, many fans believe Jericho will wind up in WWE before long.
Jericho returning to WWE would be for one final run in his former home promotion, which might cause some conflict with “The Career Killer.”
GUNTHER challenging Jericho upon his comeback should be a high profile bout that leads to him adding yet another legend to his list of careers killed.

2. Randy Orton
Since establishing himself as “The Career Killer,” there have been a variety of different legends on the WWE roster that fans have wanted to see GUNTHER collide with.
Back at WWE Royal Rumble 2026, GUNTHER came into the Men’s Royal Rumble Match at the #30 spot and went on to eliminate Randy Orton from the bout.
In the past, GUNTHER has picked up a pair of major wins over Orton in the 2024 King of the Ring tournament and for the World Heavyweight Championship.
Orton could be looking for revenge from these losses and to prove himself as “The Legend Killer” by taking down “The Career Killer” at WrestleMania 42 once and for all.

1. Brock Lesnar
Another top star who has seemed to be on a collision course with GUNTHER is Brock Lesnar.
After having a staredown and memorable confrontation in the 2023 Men’s Royal Rumble, it has felt like WWE will deliver a marquee matchup with GUNTHER and Lesnar down the line.
Now that Lesnar is set to make his return on the February 23 WWE Raw, it could lead to another interaction with “The Ring General.”
GUNTHER facing Brock would be a fitting addition to the WrestleMania 42 card that would put a huge spotlight on both men.
