Former TNA Wrestling Champions To Re-Sign With The Company

With TNA Wrestling continuing to establish itself amongst the top brands in professional wrestling, they could look to recruit some former champions.

There are quite a number of intriguing potential returns that could come about from stars who remain beloved fan favorites to others still in active competition.

Here are seven former TNA Champions that could re-sign with the company.

7. AJ Styles

One top star from TNA Wrestling past that could re-sign with the company in 2026 is AJ Styles.

With AJ Styles wrapping up his WWE in-ring career next year, there could be time for another run at the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.

Able to book an extended retirement tour in TNA Wrestling, Styles could be a featured performer and main attraction on the roster for his farewell.

Looking to wrap up his in-ring career with an official retirement in the near future, one more run in TNA Wrestling would be add to Styles’ already legendary legacy.

6. Nick Aldis

Having noted that he isn’t done with his in-ring career entirely just yet, perhaps former champion Nick Aldis – known in TNA as Magnus – could return to his old stomping grounds.

Capturing the TNA World Heavyweight Championship in 2013, Magnus was AJ Styles’ final opponent in TNA.

While he has been exceptional in his on-screen role as SmackDown GM, Nick Aldis could potentially look forward in his career to an in-ring return.

Potentially able to go on a major run at the world title in TNA Wrestling should he return, it will be intriguing to see what the coming years hold – whether it be an in-ring return in WWE or elsewhere.

5. Kurt Angle

While Kurt Angle has seemingly been content with his role outside of the spotlight, he was recently announced as set to participate in Real American Freestyle Wrestling.

Serving as a commentator and analyst for the emerging promotion, Angle recently revealed that he is also a part owner.

With the project continuing in the wake of the passing of one of the promotion’s founders Hulk Hogan, it could be that Angle becomes more intrigued by being in front of the cameras.

Possibly making a return to TNA Wrestling in a bid to promote the new freestyle wrestling promotion, Kurt Angle bring his own heavy artillery as support.

4. Samoa Joe

One former TNA World Heavyweight Champion that fans would love to see return to the promotion one day is Samoa Joe.

While Joe has suggested that his days of competing in the ring may be coming to a close in the near future, he could perhaps be persuaded back to TNA ahead of an official retirement.

A legendary name that would be amazing to see have a full farewell tour as a featured attraction star, Samoa Joe could definitely captivate TNA audiences once again.

Samoa Joe remains in active competition in AEW, still holding the AEW World Trios Championship along with Powerhouse Hobbs and Katsuyori Shibata.

3. Mick Foley

While many fans most fondly remember Mick Foley from his time in WWE, his career certainly extended beyond just one company.

Capturing the TNA World Heavyweight Championship in a Six Sides of Steel Cage match against Sting at Lockdown 2009, Foley made his mark in TNA as well.

Continuing to tour for appearances throughout the country, Foley could potentially be persuaded to slow things down for a return to TNA Wrestling TV.

While Foley has ruled out an in-ring return as he has noted it would not be medically advised to compete, the beloved legend could still find plenty of antics and hijinks to keep him busy as a TNA Director of Authority.

2. Taya Valkyrie

One name that remains signed to AEW but could definitely be a force as a returning star to TNA Wrestling would be Taya Valkyrie.

Still holding the longest single reign in the history of the TNA Knockouts Championship, Taya Valkyrie is in good company with former champs.

With Michin, Chelsea Green and Deonna Purrazzo among the other former winners who could make amazing return appearances with TNA Wrestling, there are a lot of options from past Knockouts for returns.

TNA Wrestling continues to seemingly rebuild the Knockouts division with the current champion, NXT star Kelani Jordan.

1. Motor City Machine Guns

While the Motor City Machine Guns continue to thrill fans in WWE now, both members have previously held the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.

Winning the top title when it was still under the Impact Wrestling banner in 2013, Chris Sabin defeated Bully Ray at Destination X 2013.

However, for Sabin’s tag team partner Alex Shelley, the win would come far further into their careers in the company. Capturing the top title for the first time in his career in 2023, the big victory came shortly before the duo departed the company entirely for WWE.

While they seem content in WWE for the time being, it could always be that they elect to re-sign with TNA Wrestling in the years to come.
