Over the past two years, there have been a variety of former AEW stars who have made the jump to WWE.
From Penta and Rey Fenix to Ricky Saints and Royce Keys, former AEW champions have made WWE their new home to varying degrees of success.
Looking at the current AEW roster, there could be even more former champions who make that same transition over the next year or two.
Here are eight former AEW champions to potentially join WWE.
8. Chris Jericho

Over the past year, Chris Jericho has been in the headlines consistently in regards to different updates on his pro wrestling future.
Back in April 2025, Jericho took a hiatus that has seen him absent from AEW television for nearly a full year.
While recent reports indicate that his deal has been frozen, it was revealed that Jericho did not have that much time left on his AEW contract and had considerable interest from WWE for a comeback.
Making a return to his former home, Jericho heading back to WWE feels inevitable at this point and might happen before too long.

7. Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen)

On the February 11 edition of AEW Dynamite, Private Party made their return to All Elite Wrestling for the first time in over a year.
Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen lost the AEW World Tag Team Championships in January 2025 and led to the duo being absent from the company’s programming thereafter.
After a full year on the sidelines, it feels like Private Party have returned with some added motivation to prove themselves yet again, but reports indicated that the former AEW World Tag Team Champions do not have too much time left on their deal with the promotion.
While their recent return could see them stick around, Private Party leaving AEW at the end of their contracts and signing with WWE could lead to them becoming a focal point for the company’s tag team scene in a major way moving forward.

6. Wardlow

Back at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2025, Wardlow made his return to the company for the first time in over a year.
However, the former three-time TNT Champion was immediately sidelined yet again after suffering an injury while training for his in-ring return.
With the lengthy amount of time away from AEW TV, Wardlow might just need a change of scenery to recapture the magic he had back in 2022.
Wardlow signing with WWE would be fitting considering his physique and presence feeling like a match for the company.

5. Billy Gunn

Signing with All Elite Wrestling in 2019, Billy Gunn originally came into the company as a producer and coach.
Gunn would then transition to an on-screen role and became the manager for The Acclaimed as they rose the ranks to become the AEW World Tag Team Champions.
With his association with Anthony Bowens and Max Caster, Gunn was able to capture the AEW World Trios Championships and held the gold for 238 days.
Considering Gunn has only appeared once in the past year on AEW television, it feels like the company is moving away from featuring him and could lead to the legend re-signing with WWE where he can work alongside his former DX stablemate Triple H behind-the-scenes.

4. Thunder Rosa

After several months on the sidelines, Thunder Rosa made her return to All Elite Wrestling and immediately set her sights on the AEW Women’s World Championship.
However, Thekla defeated Rosa to retain the title on the March 4 episode of AEW Dynamite.
Rosa is a former AEW Women’s World Champion in her own right and has been one of the most popular female stars in the company’s history.
While she came back into a prominent spot, it feels like Rosa might be able to reignite her career in a major way if she decides to head to WWE where she can mix it up with the talented ladies on the roster, such as IYO SKY, Charlotte Flair and Stephanie Vaquer.

3. Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D.

Another former AEW Women’s World Champion who has seemed destined to sign with WWE one day is Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D.
The last time fans have seen Baker on AEW television was back in November 2024, which means she has been absent for over one year.
This has led to several different rumors and reports regarding Baker’s future with the company moving forward.
With her contract reportedly expiring in 2026, Baker seems like someone who might be ready to make the jump to WWE where her impressive mic skills and character work would fit well with the company long term.

2. Keith Lee

Another AEW star who has been on the sidelines for an even longer stretch of time is Keith Lee.
The former AEW World Tag Team Champion was regarded as a major acquisition for the company when he signed with the company following his WWE release in 2022.
While Lee was able to win gold alongside Swerve Strickland, a series of injuries and setbacks has led to “The Limitless One” being held off AEW television since December 2023.
With more than two years away from the company, it feels like just a matter of time before Lee makes the jump from AEW to WWE and returns to a promotion under Triple H, who might book him better than both Vince McMahon and Tony Khan have been able to.

1. Mercedes Monè

Signing with All Elite Wrestling in 2024, Mercedes Mone has been positioned as one of the top stars in the women’s division.
In her first match in the company, Mone captured the AEW TBS Championship and went on to hold the title for 584 days, becoming the longest reigning women’s champion in the company’s history.
“The CEO” has only built on her legacy that started in WWE by making history, holding 13 titles at one time across multiple different promotions.
While she is still riding high in AEW, many fans believe Mone will one day make her return to WWE where she will feel like an even bigger star than she was as Sasha Banks during her first 10 years with the promotion.
