While AEW’s earlier years saw an influx of former WWE stars joining the company, the more recent trend has seen more ex-AEW stars head for WWE.
With legendary examples like Cody Rhodes and CM Punk to more recent arrivals like Ricky Saints and Blake Monroe – there may be more stars making a similar jump in the near future.
Here are five more former AEW champions that could be poised to sign with WWE.
5. Chris Jericho

Although it seems odd to consider since Chris Jericho was a foundational member from the debut of AEW – but he could absolutely return to WWE.
While he would be an obvious induction into the WWE Hall of Fame – it is unlikely that career achievement will occur while he is still signed with AEW.
Perhaps willing to consider the move when his current contract with AEW ends – reportedly in December 2025 – he may be looking to explore a nostalgic return for a farewell tour of his own like Goldberg and John Cena.
Given the increasing rejection by much of the AEW faithful before he wrote himself off of TV in a fit of rage in April – perhaps this idea isn’t as wild as it seems.

4. Wardlow

Once seeming like a lock to become one of AEW’s most successful homegrown stars, the past few years have not gone the way many fans imagined they would for three-time former TNT Champion Wardlow.
Wardlow has been entirely absent from AEW since March 13, 2024 at Big Business when he lost by referee decision against Samoa Joe.
While there has not been confirmation of a timeline for Wardlow’s return to AEW, it was reported that his absence was initially injury related, before being involved in a car accident during his absence.
While an AEW return very well could be in his future once he’s finished up competing in the American Gladiators reboot, his size, strength and ability to connect with audiences does also make him a candidate for a future WWE move as well. It wouldn’t be surprising to see Mr. Mayhem conducting his Powerbomb Symphony in NXT or WWE sometime in the near future.

3. Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen)

Since losing AEW World Tag Team Championship to The Hurt Syndicate on the January 22, 2025 episode of AEW Dynamite, Private Party have been missing from action.
With recent reports that their contracts with AEW are coming to an end soon, it was then reported that WWE an early interest in potentially signing the duo.
While former AEW World Tag Team Champions Penta and Rey Fenix made the jump to WWE and debuted as singles stars on separate brands – this pair should stick together.
Private Party could quickly rise to the top of the NXT tag team division if they were to sign with WWE, a brand that is in real need of fresh pairings.

2. Saraya (Paige)

Former AEW Women’s World Champion Saraya is best known to WWE fans from her time in the company as Paige.
Even before she officially departed AEW, fans were already wondering if the former Divas Champion would be willing to return to WWE one day.
Never ruling out a return to her Paige character, there is actually an ideal upcoming opportunity to re-introduce the star to WWE fans.
With the upcoming WWE Evolution PLE potentially set to feature surprise returns in the women’s division, perhaps fans will finally get their wish and see Paige back in WWE action.

1. Thunder Rosa

Another former AEW Women’s World Champion that could find themselves in WWE is Thunder Rosa.
Openly a fan of the product, Thunder Rosa has been known to weigh in WWE related topics on Busted Open Radio and often has a positive perspective, including praising the way former AEW stars are presented in the company.
Extending congratulations to fellow stars such as Jade Cargill and Ricky Saints upon their debuts in the company, potentially Rosa could make the same move herself in the future.
On a similar note, despite rumors of Britt Baker potentially moving from AEW to WWE, the former AEW Women’s World Champion’s reportedly lengthy amount of time left on her AEW deal has made that seem unlikely.
