It has now been five months since Drew McIntyre was last seen inside a WWE ring, with ‘The Scottish Warrior’ last competing at WrestleMania 42 against Jacob Fatu.
McIntyre’s presence is certainly missed, and just a month prior to vanishing from TV, he was holding the Undisputed WWE Championship.
With the WWE landscape changing a great deal since his last appearance, there are many potential options on the table for McIntyre when he returns, and here are three we could see play out in the coming months.
Feud with Seth Rollins
Having wrapped up feuds with The Vision and The Bloodline in the past several months, Seth Rollins is someone who is lacking creative direction in WWE right now.
Without retreading these stories, WWE may be forced to look elsewhere for a program to carry Rollins into 2027, and one potential option is Drew McIntyre.
McIntyre and Rollins have some history, with the Scottish star defeating Rollins to win the World Heavyweight Title back at WrestleMania 40. They have not really been in each other’s orbit since 2024 however, so it admittedly would feel a little random to pair them up.
But it would also give both men something to sink their teeth into, which is what they will be needing given the crowded main event picture across Raw and SmackDown.
Returns to SmackDown to win back Undisputed WWE Title
The most logical return path for Drew McIntyre would be an attempt to pick up where he left off; that being reclaiming the Undisputed WWE Title.
The issue is, the WWE Title picture is increasingly crowded right now. But on the plus side, many of Drew’s former rivals are currently taking up spots in the queue.
Seeing McIntyre resume his feud with CM Punk would certainly be welcomed by the majority of WWE fans, as the pair truly brought the best out on in each other back in 2024.
His rivalries with Cody Rhodes and current Undisputed WWE Champion Sami Zayn could certainly also be revisited, with the latter especially intriguing due to Zayn’s new heel character.
Joins the fight against The Bloodline
Perhaps the most interesting change in WWE since McIntyre’s last appearance has been the re-emergence of The Bloodline. While Roman Reigns did reunite with The Usos en route to WrestleMania 42, it was after ‘The Grandest Stage of Them All’ that Jacob Fatu became involved and the story really began rolling once again.
McIntyre has no shortage of history with The Bloodline, and being screwed out of ending Reigns’ Undisputed WWE Title reign back at Clash at the Castle 2022 was a hugely motivating factor for his heel persona being born the following year.
Drew is certainly still holding onto that resentment, and now that his WrestleMania 42 opponent Jacob Fatu is involved he may have even more motivation to target them.
With LA Knight and Solo Sikoa currently outnumbered in their fight against The Bloodline and 946, we could see McIntyre join up with them, although his past issues with Sikoa may prove a stumbling block. Whatever way he gets involved, McIntyre would add a special new layer to the ongoing conflict.
