At WWE Elimination Chamber 2026, Drew McIntyre interfered in the Men’s Elimination Chamber, which led to Randy Orton hitting the RKO on Cody Rhodes to win the match and move on to WrestleMania 42.
Now with McIntyre set to defend the WWE Title against Rhodes on the March 6 episode of Friday Night SmackDown, it feels like The Scottish Warrior could be without an opponent for WrestleMania 42 and in need of a new option for The Show of Shows.
Here are seven potential Drew McIntyre new WWE WrestleMania 42 opponents.
7. Jacob Fatu
On the January 9 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, Jacob Fatu made his return after being attacked backstage by a mystery assailant last year.
Going right after Drew McIntyre thinking he was behind his attack, Fatu was looking for revenge, but Cody Rhodes tried to stop him and got into a brawl with The Samoan Werewolf, which led to Drew winning the Undisputed WWE Championship.
Since then, McIntyre has cost Fatu a chance to compete in the Elimination Chamber twice and attacked him at various times over the past couple of months.
McIntyre and Fatu doing battle would make a lot of sense considering their rivalry has been escalating to a fever pitch, which could lead to a huge grudge match on the WWE WrestleMania 42 card.

6. Ilja Dragunov
Over the past few months, Drew McIntyre has interacted with several members of the SmackDown roster.
On the road to WWE Royal Rumble 2026, Ilja Dragunov confronted the Undisputed WWE Champion and looked to be teasing a matchup.
“The Mad Dragon” has become one of the standout in-ring performers on the WWE roster, delivering some of the best matches over the past few months.
If McIntyre still wants to have a show-stealing bout at WrestleMania 42 even after losing the Undisputed WWE Championship, he should look no further than Dragunov for his opponent.

5. Trick Williams
Since making his debut on the WWE main roster in January, Trick Williams has become one of the most popular stars on Friday Night SmackDown.
The former two-time NXT Champion has created a distinct and unique connection with the fans, which has led to Williams receiving some of the loudest cheers of anyone on the roster today.
Considering his rapid rise up the ranks, it feels like Trick should be facing a top star at “The Showcase of the Immortals.”
Williams facing off with Drew McIntyre would be a prominent match on the WrestleMania 42 card that will help both men gain the spotlight when the lights are on the brightest at “The Show of Shows.”

4. Joe Hendry
Prior to his second stint in WWE that started in 2017, Drew McIntyre traveled all over the independent scene and faced a who’s who of stars that eventually became bigger stars over the past decade.
One of his main rivals on the U.K. indies had to have been Joe Hendry, who truly made a name for himself in his battles against McIntyre.
With both men being from Scotland, McIntyre and Hendry share a connection unlike any WWE stars on the roster right now.
Considering his status as the current NXT Champion, Hendry could gain another huge opportunity in his career by competing in a match on his second straight WrestleMania against his longtime rival McIntyre.

3. Nick Aldis
Over the past few months, Drew McIntyre has made life a living hell on Friday Night SmackDown for General Manager Nick Aldis.
Fans have seen McIntyre and Aldis at each other’s throats and usually almost getting into physical confrontations with one another.
Things really came to a head at WWE Elimination Chamber 2026 when Aldis got in McIntyre’s face after his involvement in the result of the Men’s Elimination Chamber Match.
Aldis making his official WWE in-ring debut against McIntyre at WrestleMania 42 would be a massive match for both men and pay off their recent interactions with one another.

2. Sami Zayn
At WWE Royal Rumble 2026, Drew McIntyre defeated Sami Zayn to retain the Undisputed WWE Championship.
This marked McIntyre’s 12th win in a row without a loss against Zayn in singles competition over the past few years.
This latest loss has led to noticeable changes to the behavior of Zayn, who has grown extremely frustrated with his current position outside of the Undisputed WWE Championship picture.
If McIntyre drops the title, Zayn could see this as an opportunity to finally get the monkey off his back and defeat “The Scottish Warrior” on ”The Grandest Stage of Them All” at WrestleMania 42.

1. Oba Femi
Back at the December 13 edition of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, Drew McIntyre interfered in the Cody Rhodes vs. Oba Femi singles match.
This led to Femi laying hands on McIntyre and working with Rhodes to lay out “The Scottish Warrior.”
Now, Femi is officially part of the main roster and should close out this unfinished business at “The Showcase of the Immortals.”
“The Ruler” facing off with McIntyre would make for a significant match on the card for WrestleMania 42 that could see Femi beating a former Undisputed WWE Champion when the lights are the brightest in Las Vegas.
