With rumors persisting that Chris Jericho could be making a return to WWE in 2026, there could already be some iconic plans in the works.
From the manner of return to what his true intentions could be – there are a lot of interesting ways that Chris Jericho making a WWE return could potentially go.
Here are six potential plans for a Chris Jericho WWE return.
6. Royal Rumble Surprise
Chris Jericho remains conspicuously absent from AEW – including having no part in the recent massive event, AEW All In Texas.
Although he is not appearing for AEW, he has announced several upcoming convention appearances over October and November amid rumors he could be wrapping up his AEW contract.
Reportedly Jericho’s current contract expires at the end of 2025, meaning that as soon as January 1, 2026 – Jericho could re-sign with WWE.
With the first-ever Royal Rumble taking place outside of North America set for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia set for January 2026 – it could be that Chris Jericho’s first plan back in WWE is to make a massive return.

5. Y2AJ
One short-lived pairing for Jericho was with AJ Styles – but it doesn’t mean the pair of veteran stars couldn’t link back up in WWE.
AJ Styles was recently reported to have signed a one-year contract with WWE after which he may consider retiring entirely.
Joining forces with another legend in Chris Jericho, the duo could end up on a legendary journey at the same time.
With AJ Styles currently feuding with Dominik Mysterio in the lead up to SummerSlam – hopefully their feud would come back around again because Jericho vs. Dirty Dom would be so much fun.

4. The List Of Jericho
One of the most enjoyable gimmicks near the end of Jericho’s time in WWE was ‘The List of Jericho’.
A simple concept, Jericho would become incensed by someone and dramatically add them to ‘The List’ which he carried with him on a clipboard.
With the continued integration of social media with WWE – perhaps a modern take on the list could be that Jericho snaps and unflattering and surprise photo of them and posts it for all the world to see.
Able to boast about his enormous social media following, Jericho could use his list as an all new threat for his foes.

3. Anti-Youth Jericho
Perhaps not everyone who would join the locker room in WWE today would appreciate all of the progress that has marched forward.
With today’s climate of more open communication about ideas and presumably a less toxic hierarchy – an incredible gimmick would be for Jericho to return to WWE and hate it.
Unlike CM Punk and Cody Rhodes who have made big returns and gone on to speak glowingly about the current backstage culture in WWE – Jericho could do the exact opposite.
Openly complaining about the lack of ability to wield authority over younger talent, Jericho could spin a hilarious take on the grizzled veteran by being vocal about returning to the more raucous roots of the industry.

2. Alliance With Drew McIntyre
Drew McIntyre is a certified hater and who better to align with than Chris Jericho.
While McIntyre is currently flexing his skills for the odd ball pairing – joining up with Logan Paul to take on Randy Orton and music star Jelly Roll at SummerSlam 2025 – he could always be in the hunt for a new partner by 2026.
Joining forces with McIntyre, Jericho would undoubtedly go on an iconic tear of in-ring promo segments aimed at any one and everyone who dared to cross them.
Aligning two very sharp-witted veterans could be a magical combination of biting sass.

1. Affiliation With The Rock
If December will be ushering in the retirement of John Cena and thereby his departure from the company – it would make sense for The Final Boss, The Rock to immediately want to install a new top henchman.
Bringing in Chris Jericho after the departure of John Cena, Jericho could either immediately reveal himself to be affiliated with The Rock – or similarly to Cena, turn heel in a big way.
Potentially able to occupy a similar retirement tour arc as Cena, Jericho’s return could help to bolster a whole separate group of talent.
With a lot of potential stories to tell between just The Rock and Jericho – it could be an incredible way to re-introduce the likely future WWE Hall of Famer.
