With the road to WWE WrestleMania 42 underway, it remains to be seen who will face AJ Lee for the Intercontinental Championship in Las Vegas.
From the announced competitors in an upcoming gauntlet match to determine the number one contender to some surprises that could arrive after the fact, there are some intriguing possibilities.
Here are five potential opponents for AJ Lee at WWE WrestleMania 42.
5. Bayley
After missing out on WWE WrestleMania 41, Bayley has continued to find her place on the roster in the year that followed.
While she continues to be featured on TV, Bayley has yet to have a substantive title opportunity, which could change if she were to begin a feud with AJ Lee.
Certainly one of the most interesting options available, Bayley could use the opportunity to reinvent her character in a way that makes sense for the storyline and the future.
With fans still clearly in support of the veteran, it could be a fun juxtaposition to see two very distinct big names from different eras do battle at WrestleMania 42.

4. Lyra Valkyria
Confirmed for the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship number one contender’s gauntlet match, Lyra Valkyria seems like she could be favored to win.
Potentially set to be more interesting as a heel than in her current babyface iteration, Lyra Valkyria could end up turning on Bayley.
Or potentially, the other way around, seeing Bayley betray Valkyria and go on to have their own feud against one another on the road to WrestleMania 42.
While their partnership has been enjoyable, the simmering tension throughout – including during a period in which Bayley seemed to be having a crisis of conscience that could lead her to turning heel – has teased that there are more stories left to tell between the technicians.

3. Roxanne Perez
While Roxanne Perez is out of action at the minute after having a procedure done to remove a benign mass in her back, she could be primed to get back into action before WWE WrestleMania 42.
She is not currently in the number one contender’s gauntlet to determine who will face AJ Lee in the future, but her Judgment Day partner Raquel Rodriguez is.
With there already being a brewing storyline featuring Liv Morgan clearly taking Rodriguez for granted, a win for Raquel that’s then gifted to Perez through social pressure could be a fascinating dynamic ahead of WrestleMania 42.
Raquel could easily turn babyface after facing weeks of pressure to give her spot to Roxanne, only to inevitably get involved and depart Judgment Day in the end.

2. IYO SKY
With IYO SKY being seen coming out of Adam Pearce’s office and having a moment with Bayley, it would seem their their conflict is not over.
Since Bayley had been a fearless leader of Damage CTRL in the past, she would go on to be booted out of the group. With Asuka and Kairi Sane sticking together, it would prove to then be IYO SKY as the odd woman out as she forged ahead in singles action.
After a successful tag team run with Rhea Ripley, it seems that SKY is now ready again to stand alone and seek some singles gold.
Able to easily put on an amazing match against AJ Lee at WWE WrestleMania 42, perhaps a shot at the legend is the best option left for IYO SKY.

1. Becky Lynch
While AJ Lee has vowed that she is moving on from Becky Lynch, it doesn’t mean that Lynch is prepared to move on from Lee.
Possibly coming back after Lee in an attempt to reclaim the WWE Women’s IC Title, there could definitely be some interesting ground to cover if Lynch attempts to add herself to an already confirmed bout.
Looking to oust either Bayley or Lyra Valkyria from their potentially earned shot at AJ Lee, there could end up being a fiery triple threat or even fatal four-way in the end for WrestleMania 42.
With plenty of matches left to be booked, and storyline twists and turns on the road to WrestleMania, time will tell where all of these top female stars land on the card in Las Vegas.
