All Elite Wrestling will cap off their successful run of pay-per-views in 2025 with the AEW Worlds End event from Chicago, Illinois.
On the road to this major show, there have been various matches that have been teased or alluded to that might not be taking place at Worlds End 2025.
From title bouts that were changed, to feuds that were set to culminate at the event, there seems to have been some major contests that may have been canceled before AEW made their way to Chi-Town for this show.
Here are six potential AEW Worlds End 2025 matches canceled.
6. Samoa Joe vs. Hangman Adam Page vs. Swerve Strickland For AEW World Title

At AEW Full Gear 2025, Samoa Joe defeated Hangman Adam Page in a Steel Cage Match to win the AEW World Title thanks to interference from HOOK.
Following the match, Swerve Strickland made his return to the promotion for the first time since AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2025.
Setting his sights on the top prize in the company, Strickland inserted himself into the drama between Joe and Page. This set up a likely three-way match for AEW Worlds End 2025.
Before MJF returned to invoke his Casino Gauntlet title shot contract to make the AEW Worlds End main event a four-way, it seemed like the issues between Joe, Swerve and Hangman would come to a head in Chicago.

5. PAC vs. Jon Moxley In Continental Classic

One of the standout matches in this year’s AEW Continental Classic was Jon Moxley facing Claudio Castagnoli in the Blue League.
This bout saw Castagnoli pull off an upset win over the Death Riders leader, becoming the first member of any faction Mox was part of to pick up a win against him in an AEW ring.
Considering that The Death Riders also had some representation in the Gold League, some fans believed that they would see another showdown between stablemates in the C2 Semifinals at Worlds End.
Moxley vs. PAC could have proven to be a tense bout between The Death Riders, while serving as the setup for the Finals at the same time.

4. Timeless Toni Storm vs. Marina Shafir

Ever since the Women’s Blood & Guts Match, it has seemed like a rivalry has been born between Timeless Toni Storm and Marina Shafir.
After being forced to watch her Timeless Love Bombs partner Mina Shirakawa being brutalized by the MegaProblems inside the two-ring steel cage, Storm has been on the search for revenge.
Despite beating Shafir and Megan Bayne in the AEW Women’s Tag Team Championship Tournament, it seems like tensions are still on the rise after Marina beat Shirakawa on AEW Dynamite on 34th St. and then laid out Storm after the bout.
While these two ladies will fight once again in the Mixed Nuts Mayhem with the Death Riders and Conglomeration, it looked like Storm and Shafir were going to go one-on-one for the first time at AEW Worlds End 2025.

3. FTR vs. Brodido For AEW World Tag Team Championships

Back at AEW Full Gear 2025, FTR defeated Brodido to become three-time AEW World Tag Team Champions.
Following this loss, Bandido and Brody King made sure to make it clear that their partnership was not over and they planned on competing for the titles again.
Meanwhile, FTR have been distracted by their rivalry with the Bang Bang Gang, leading to a Chicago Street Fight scheduled for AEW Worlds End 2025.
Prior to this feud heating up though, it seemed like Brodido were going to be next in line to challenge FTR for the gold in Chicago on December 27.

2. Kris Statlander vs. Thekla For AEW Women’s World Championship

Following her win over Mercedes Mone at AEW Full Gear 2025, it looked like Kris Statlander was going to face her next challenge from the Triangle of Madness.
With the group targeting the AEW Women’s World Champion, Thekla, Julia Hart and Skye Blue look to be softening up Statlander before one of them challenges for the gold.
However, Statlander got some backup from Jamie Hayter to pick up a win over the Sisters of Sin at AEW Collision: Winter Is Coming and then changed their focus onto each other.
Prior to Hayter staking her claim, it seemed almost inevitable that Statlander was going to defend her title against Thekla at AEW Worlds End 2025 in Chicago.

1. The Elite vs. The Don Callis Family

At AEW Dynamite and Collision: Holiday Bash 2025, The Elite’s Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks defeated Kazuchika Okada, Hechicero and Konosuke Takeshita of the Don Callis Family in a $1 Million Winner Takes All Match.
While this victory could have been the end of the rivalry between the two groups, Okada and Takeshita attacked The Elite post match, seemingly indicating that things between the two sides were not over just yet.
The Elite and the Don Callis Family seemed to be on a collision course for one last battle at the upcoming AEW Worlds End 2025.
However, The Young Bucks announced that they have not been cleared to compete for the remainder of 2025, meaning there will be no Elite reunion for the fans in Chicago on December 27 at AEW Worlds End.
