At NJPW Power Struggle 2026, Knockout Brothers defeated United Empire’s Will Ospreay and Callum Newman via DQ after Newman swung a chair at Ospreay that hit OSKAR instead.
This led to a post match brawl between Will and Callum that saw a year of animosity come to its boiling point.
Following this exchange, Newman challenged Ospreay to face him one-on-one at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 21 on January 4 from the Tokyo Dome.
With this announced bout now set, here are four more potential matches in the possible AEW vs. NJPW United Empire civil war.
Will Ospreay vs. Andrade El Idolo
At AEW All In London 2026, Will Ospreay defeated Kenny Omega to become the new AEW World Champion.
Earlier in the card, Andrade El Idolo won the Casino Gauntlet Match to earn a shot at the AEW World Title at anytime of his choosing.
With a guaranteed shot at the top prize in the company, it became very interesting when Andrade seemingly joined forces with Ospreay’s United States branch of the United Empire in All Elite Wrestling.
This should lead to an intriguing battle between Ospreay and Andrade that may put into question the fact that El Idolo is officially part of both the U.S. and Japanese versions of the faction.
Francesco Akira vs. Jakob Austin Young
In the NJPW Super Junior Tag League 2026 tournament, United Empire was represented by Francesco Akira and Jakob Austin Young.
During the course of the tournament, there were tons of dissension and miscommunications between Akira and J.A.Y.
Then at NJPW Power Struggle 2026, Callum Newman struck down Akira during his post match brawl with Will Ospreay.
With Young firmly part of Newman’s version of United Empire, this should lead to J.A.Y. facing off with Akira somewhere down the line after this tension.
HENARE vs. Great O Khan
Another pair of tag team partners in the United Empire is HENARE and Great O Khan.
After losing the NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Titles at NJPW King of Pro Wrestling 2026, O Khan walked out on the United Empire despite HENARE apologizing about this loss.
Fans have not seen either man in NJPW over the past few weeks, which will make things interesting when they are back under the banner.
HENARE eventually battling O Khan in a showdown of former IWGP Tag Team Champions should make for a deeply personal matchup between the two United Empire members.
Speedball Mike Bailey vs. Callum Newman
When Will Ospreay brought United Empire to All Elite Wrestling, his first recruit was Speedball Mike Bailey.
In a recent interview, Callum Newman stated that he did not know about this decision until he saw the segment on social media and took offense to it.
“The Prince” has made comments about Bailey’s inclusion in United Empire, which might lead to a battle between the two.
Wanting to see what Speedball can offer, Newman could show up in AEW to face off with Bailey, looking to beat him for the first time in his career.
