To start 2026, All Elite Wrestling (AEW) has a ton of different duos in both the men’s and women’s tag team divisions.
It feels like quite a few of these pairings could be heading to a split in the near future for a variety of reasons.
Whether it be due to ongoing dissension or one of the stars looking to break out in the singles scene, these tag team breakups could deliver some memorable moments over the next few months.
Here are six AEW tag teams potentially splitting up soon.
6. Big Bill & Bryan Keith

In 2024, Chris Jericho recruited Big Bill and Bryan Keith to form his Learning Tree stable in All Elite Wrestling.
While Jericho teamed with both men in tag team and multi-man action, Bill and Keith became the primary pairing for the group.
Since Jericho took a hiatus from AEW in April 2025, Bill and BK have continued their partnership in the tag team scene.
It might be time for the two men to go their separate ways with Bill becoming a dominant force in the AEW singles scene, while “The Bounty Hunter” might be better suited for Ring of Honor to earn a name for himself.

5. The Matriarchy (Nick Wayne & Kip Sabian)

The Patriarchy was created by Christian Cage to surround himself with younger wrestlers that he could influence to do his bidding.
After months of verbal and mental abuse, Nick Wayne and Kip Sabian decided to turn against their mentor and betrayed Cage at the AEW All In: Texas 2025 pay-per-view.
While Cage went on to reunite with his longtime best friend Adam Copeland, The Patriarchy became The Matriarchy with Mother Wayne providing some guidance for the stable until her son Nick was sidelined with a serious foot injury.
Upon his return to the company, fans could see Wayne choosing to stand on his own away from both his mother and Sabian.

4. Timeless Love Bombs (Timeless Toni Storm & Mina Shirakawa)

Ever since coming together back at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2024, Timeless Toni Storm and Mina Shirakawa have become close to one another on a couple of different levels.
Claiming to be lovers, Timeless Love Bombs was formed with Storm and Shirakawa proving to be a formidable pairing.
While they made it to the finals of the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship Tournament, Storm and Shirakawa have found themselves on the outside looking in for the title picture at the time of this writing.
With a new AEW Women’s World Champion being crowned in Thekla, it might be time for Storm to rejoin the main title scene, while Shirakawa could potentially vie for the TBS Championship elsewhere.

3. Paragon (Roderick Strong & Kyle O’Reilly)

Ever since he debuted in All Elite Wrestling in 2023, Roderick Strong has reunited with his former WWE NXT tag team partner in Kyle O’Reilly to form Paragon.
However, Adam Cole being sidelined with a serious injury led to O’Reilly wanting to bring Strong together with his friends in The Conglomeration.
After months of hesitation to fully embrace the group, Strong showed his true feelings when he decided to walk out on Orange Cassidy during his tag team match against Daniel Garcia and Clark Connors on the February 11 edition of AEW Dynamite.
Strong turning on O’Reilly would signal a true shift in his character and formally break up Paragon when Kyle is eventually back on AEW TV.

2. Brodido (Bandido & Brody King)

At the January 14 Maximum Carnage 2026 special of AEW Dynamite, MJF defeated Bandido to retain the AEW World Title.
Meanwhile, Brody King was unable to get revenge for his tag team partner when he challenged MJF himself for the gold at AEW Grand Slam Australia 2026.
After these recent failures, fans could see Brodido come together and reform one of the best tag teams in AEW today or decide to go their separate ways.
Wanting to truly focus their efforts towards singles success, these losses could push a wedge between Brodido that leads to an official split for the former AEW World Tag Team Champions.

1. Protoshita (Kyle Fletcher & Konosuke Takeshita)

Over the past few months, Protoshita has experienced some underlined tension between the longtime friends, tag team partners and Don Callis Family stablemates.
With Kazuchika Okada getting closer to “The Protostar,” Takeshita has become more jealous about the growing friendship for “ProtOkada.”
While it seems like Takeshita could be heading towards splitting from the Callis Family, it feels like Fletcher’s status with the faction has only grown with his recent TNT Title win over Tommaso Ciampa on the February 11 edition of AEW Dynamite.
As it appears “The Alpha” will more than likely find himself on the outside looking in on the Don Callis Family, fans could see Protoshita going their separate ways, which could lead to an inevitable singles meeting between these two friends.
