With AEW Double or Nothing 2025 fast approaching, there are still very few stars confirmed for the pay-per-view card.
Some with reasons that are known and others who remain absent without any indication, there are some fan favorites on the list of names who look like they’ll be missing out on the event.
Here are eight AEW stars that seem set to miss Double or Nothing 2025.
8. Jay White

While he was originally scheduled to be in the Owen Hart Foundation tournament, Jay White would end up being replaced after sustaining a hand injury during a match on Collision.
In the tournament, White was replaced by Kevin Knight and in storyline he was written off TV after an attack from the Death Riders.
Presumably White will not be back in competition by the time AEW Double or Nothing takes place on May 25, 2025.
There is an outside chance he could appear for an angle at the event since his injury is reportedly a broken hand that required surgery, but it seems highly unlikely.

7. Britt Baker

Britt Baker won the inaugural Owen Hart Foundation tournament, beating Ruby Soho at Double or Nothing 2022 to capture the victory.
However, after being entirely absent from AEW TV, it doesn’t seem likely that Baker Baker will be making an appearances at AEW Double or Nothing 2025.
Baker last appeared on AEW TV in November in a match against Penelope Ford where it seemed that perhaps she was building towards a program with Serena Deeb, but that feud abruptly ended before it even began.
At time of writing there is still only one women’s match set for the show – perhaps something else will come together during Dynamite or Collision – but it still remains to be seen when Baker will appear in AEW again.

6. Cope

At time of writing there is no indication that Cope will be making it to Phoenix, Arizona for AEW Double or Nothing 2025.
After he was hit with a vicious Con-Chair-To by FTR in a betrayal after a loss at AEW Dynasty, the legend Cope has been absent.
It seems unlikely that Cope will see any in-ring action at AEW Double or Nothing although an appearance by the former TNT Champion is always possible.
He definitely has an axe to grind with FTR and potentially an ally in Daniel Garcia so perhaps more will be revealed and Cope will be back to in-ring action sooner rather than later.

5. Chris Jericho

While it is possible he could pop up as a surprise at AEW Double or Nothing 2025, it seems highly likely that Chris Jericho will not be featured at the event.
Currently in storyline, Chris Jericho has abandoned his Learning Tree proteges Bad Apple Bryan Keith and Big Bill after a fit of disappointment.
Despite the fact that he was smashing everything in sight, Jericho was clear that he was not angry, rather just… disappointed. Ouch.
In real life however, Jericho is on tour with his band Fozzym and is likely to return at some point once the band has completed their anniversary tour.

4. Christian Cage

Christian Cage hasn’t seen in-ring action since losing out on his shot at the AEW World Championship at AEW Revolution when Jon Moxley beat both Cage and Cope in a triple threat match.
He has not neglected to appear on AEW TV, most recently popping up on the April 23 edition of Dynamite to offer a congratulations of sorts for one of the members of the Patriarchy.
After Nick Wayne captured the ROH Television Championship, Cage appeared alongside him in a backstage segment where he was sure to both take credit and point out that he and Nick Wayne’s mom Shayna had copiously celebrated the victory.
It seems despite being one of the most entertaining members of the AEW roster, there won’t be an in-ring spot on the Double or Nothing 2025 card for Christian Cage.

3. Darby Allin

Well, we know where Darby Allin is – and it is nowhere near Phoenix, Arizona.
Taking to his Instagram account, Darby Allin updated fans on his progress at climbing Mount Everest when he shared a video of himself achieving a surprising feat.
Allin was setting the world record for doing a skateboard kick-flip at the highest ever elevation at 20,958 feet.
While Everest boasts a total height of 29,032 feet – meaning Darby is far closer to the top of Mount Everest than he is to sea level – Allin probably still won’t make it back in time for Double or Nothing 2025.

2. Mariah May

Mariah May has not been seen on AEW TV since the “Hollywood Ending” match between her and Timeless Toni Storm seemingly settled their feud for good at AEW Revolution 2025.
Despite losing the match, a complete and sudden disappearance from AEW raised suspicions among fans which then reached a fever pitch with reports May’s AEW contract would be over in “Summer 2025”.
Speculation continues that the next time fans see Mariah May could be in WWE.
However, her absence isn’t the only one to watch as there is another top young star currently missing from AEW amid rumors that WWE is interested in signing them…

1. HOOK

Similarly to Mariah May, there are some interesting dots with HOOK that, if connected, – could suggest he might be WWE bound in the near future.
The latest report regarding HOOK’s contract status came in late February 2025 noting that he had been working with agent Barry Bloom to represent him in contract negotiations.
HOOK would go on to make several more appearances before being abruptly written off TV due to an attack by the Death Riders with some speculation that he suffered a real life injury as the reason for his absence. He would go on to be replaced in The Opps trio by Powerhouse Hobbs.
We’ll have to stay tuned to find out when he may be back but it seems unlikely that he will be back for AEW Double or Nothing 2025.
