While Tony Khan continues to have his hands full in charge of creative over all of AEW and ROH, there are a few changes that could be made on Collision.
Since debuting in June 2023, AEW Collision has been airing on Saturday nights and has hosted some memorable moments, but some things may need shaking up.
Here are nine changes that could be made to AEW Collision.
9. Switch To Thursday Nights

It seems as though this change is actually being considered since there is movement regarding the upcoming AEW airing schedule.
According to TNT’s latest schedule, AEW Collision will air on Thursday again twice in the month of May – with both May 8 and May 22 noted as hosting those weeks’ episodes of Collision.
Relatedly, the taping for Collision that was set for Saturday, May 17 in Wichita, Kansas was cancelled with fans receiving a refund. Instead, the May 14 taping of Beach Break Dynamite in Chicago, Illinois will also see the Collision taping occur.
With the switches to the upcoming AEW taping and airing schedule seemingly a test-pilot for a potential shift to Thursday, perhaps fans will start being able to enjoy back-to-back nights of AEW on TV.

8. Shake Up Some Alliances

There are a few working alliances in AEW that just need to be mixed up for to provide new stories and more interesting character interactions.
Now that CRU (Lio Rush and Action Andretti) split from the brother duo of Top Flight (Darius and Dante Martin) – why did Leila Grey stick with the latter?
Kris Statlander continues to be a dominant force but has mercurial stories as her incoherent booking makes it hard to follow her character’s motivation. Perhaps striking up an alliance with new likeminded individuals – and not harping back to the same cast of Best Friends characters – could add an element.
The Conglomeration is seemingly now only made up of Mark Briscoe and Orange Cassidy, so perhaps the pair could just be featured ending the group? For continuity’s sake, AEW could clean up some of the incomplete storyline pieces before just moving on to new ones.

7. Push Anthony Bowens

There are a few AEW stars that are simply beloved by fans – one of those is Anthony Bowens.
Now that the former college baseball star has dropped his former Acclaimed tag team partner Max Caster, he is striking out on his own.
Coming back at AEW Dynasty with new gear, a new entrance theme and new nickname, the five-tool player is ready for big things.
Bowens should get the chance to showcase what he is capable of in singles competition – even if he isn’t directly targeting a championship, there are still compelling stories to be told.

6. MJF debuts a faction anchored on Collision

When Collision was established, it seemed as though it was going to be a program anchored by CM Punk.
Giving some structure to the layout of the storyline progression as well as which stars they could expect to see on the show, the early days of Collision were well received for their cohesion.
As time has drifted further away from a roster split concept in AEW, it would still be beneficial to anchor Collision to a top star that could encourage fans to tune in.
Since it seems as though there could be an MJF-led faction on the horizon, it would make complete sense to have the group become the anchor of the Collision storylines in the men’s division.

5. Add A Third Female-Led Hour

A continued criticism of AEW has been the lack of substantive time allotted for the women’s division to be able to tell stories that capture attention – so adding an hour to Collision in order to expand the ability to showcase talent could serve the company well.
While ‘Timeless’ Toni Storm and Mariah May’s battles over the AEW Women’s World Championship were able to dominate interest, beyond that main storyline there are a lot of secondary ones that have failed to find a solid stride.
There is a deep bench of underutilized female talent currently across the AEW and ROH roster that could fill in to build Collision into a three-hour show.
Adding in an AEW Women’s Tag Team Championship that could be defended on Collision plus more time for interview or in-ring promo segments featuring women are just a few suggestions of how to fill in the extra TV time.

4. Jon Moxley Loses The AEW World Championship

While we can all appreciate long term storytelling, there are a few odd secondary effects of the very long reign of Jon Moxley in AEW – including the complete disappearance of the AEW World Championship belt.
The title belt is presumably still in the briefcase carried by Marina Shafir, but since Moxley captured the championship from Bryan Danielson at WrestleDream in early October 2024, it hasn’t been seen.
While some fans continue to hold on to hope that the overarching story will come together to prove ah-ha! moments that make currently confusing choices more meaningful – other fans continue to petition Tony Khan to move on.
We’ll have to see what the future holds for the AEW World Championship – with some assuming it won’t change hands for another two months at AEW All In Texas, it may be a longer wait than expected to see the belt again.

3. Max Caster Wins A Match

Fun fact about Max Caster in 2025 – he has yet to compete in an AEW singles match that has lasted longer than two minutes… and he has lost all of them.
While Caster continues to be bested by every opponent with speed – currently having lost his last 10 singles matches – it could be time for him to finally pick up a win.
It doesn’t seem as though the adversity is particularly endearing fans to the Best Wrestler Alive, so perhaps rather than perpetually losing to big names in his Open Challenge, he could actually win a match.
Obviously the singular win would likely severely over inflate his heelish ego and thereby would be followed by another devastating loss, but at least it would be a change!

2. Mixed AEW Tag Team Championship

One potential new championship that has been pitched by some for AEW is a Mixed Tag Team Championship, that could solidify a new ‘power couple’ for the promotion.
There are still several real life couples on the AEW roster who could make for great on-screen partnerships – with Skye Blue still out with an injury, if she were to unite with her real-life partner Kyle Fletcher upon her return, it could be a beneficial change of direction for both.
Conversely, two of the most over the top characters in AEW – Toni Storm and Juice Robinson – are married and any interaction between the pair would make for iconic TV.
Even past real couples, there would be plenty of fun opportunities for new male & female partnerships to flourish.

1. Use ‘Real’ Stories In Storylines

“Loose lips sink ships” was an American propaganda phrase to discourage gossiping on the home front during World War II meant to demonstrate that the consequences of unguarded talk could be more dire than the sharer even realizes.
A hurdle that AEW has had to overcome in the past several years was that blurring of reality and fiction being uncalculated, as it came from spontaneous events rather than storyline details. From backstage fights to social media squabbles, oftentimes the biggest dramas aren’t even referenced on TV.
AEW has yet to use the heavy fan scrutiny as well as constant media attention to their advantage as WWE has demonstrated in recent years. For example, WWE storyline developments being first reported via fan footage during surprise “parking lot attacks” that are later acknowledged by the company.
AEW viewership has historically demonstrated that fans are interested in following stories across different mediums, including TV, social media, podcasts and perpetual leaks to reporters – so why not give them something major and actually controlled to talk about?
