Ahead of WrestleMania 41, WWE announced its acquisition of Lucha Libre AAA, bringing one of Mexico’s top promotions under its management.

This new relationship will get an official start with the upcoming WWE NXT x AAA Worlds Collide event on Saturday, June 7.

Following the announcement of Los Garza appearing on the upcoming TripleMania Regia event, this announcement will likely lead to even more WWE stars appearing in the company next.

With several Mexican and Latin American talent in the company, here are eight WWE stars to potentially appear in Lucha Libre AAA.

8. Penta

WWE star Penta

In January, Penta made his debut in WWE and has since been making a name for himself over on the Monday Night Raw brand.

During the announcement of the AAA acquisition, Penta was one of the most prominent stars who were on the stage for this news.

Considering his role as one of the biggest stars in Mexico for the company, it would not surprise any fans to see the luchador make his way back to AAA.

When WWE decides to send talent over to the promotion, Penta should be at the top of the list and could help AAA tremendously with his exposure in America.

Another WWE star who has an extensive past in Lucha Libre AAA is Penta’s brother Rey Fenix.

During his time in Mexico, Fenix became one of the top stars for the promotion, winning the AAA Mega Championship.

With his thrilling high flying style, Fenix made for many stellar encounters with several stars over in AAA.

Fenix heading back over to Mexico to appear in Lucha Libre AAA would be a huge return for the company and could generate some excitement among their fanbase.

6. Santos Escobar

WWE star Santos Escobar

Rey Fenix debuting with WWE has led to Santos Escobar getting some more TV time in his brewing rivalry with the luchador.

The Legado Del Fantasma leader has plenty of history working with Fenix during their time in AAA as well as Lucha Underground.

The former El Hijo del Fantasma making a comeback to Lucha Libre AAA seems like a big deal considering he has been on WWE television over the last six years.

While Escobar has not been featured as a prominent talent on WWE programming since his main roster call-up, he could be seen as a main event star if or when he can appear in AAA again.

5. Andrade

Another WWE star who has not been consistently featured as of late is Andrade.

Previously known as La Sombra, Andrade made his presence felt over in Mexico for the CMLL promotion. His success in CMLL led to him making his way over to New Japan Pro Wrestling and eventually to WWE as well.

After making a name for himself in WWE and AEW, Andrade should make a return to Mexico where an appearance in AAA could help this new acquisition in a significant way.

Other than rare appearances for the promotion during his time in AEW, this return to AAA could see Andrade bring a ton of star power and make a formidable opponent for the top talent in the company.

4. Dragon Lee

Another WWE star who made a name for himself in Mexico over in CMLL is Dragon Lee.

The LWO member has not always been consistently featured on WWE television, but always feels like a standout when given the opportunity.

Most notably challenging Kenny Omega for the AAA Mega Championship back in 2019, Lee has a brief history with Lucha Libre AAA that could be played off with an appearance back in the promotion.

In another case of a WWE star feeling more valuable there than in their home promotion, Dragon Lee could be seen as a major guest star on some big shows for AAA in the months to come.

3. Stephanie Vaquer

One of the most surprising WWE stars who was present on the stage for the AAA acquisition news was Stephanie Vaquer.

The Chilean star made a name for herself in Mexico as part of the CMLL roster where she is a former CMLL World Women’s Champion and Women’s Tag Team Champion.

“La Primera” has hit the ground running over in WWE, winning both the NXT Women’s Championship and Women’s North American Championship.

Making her debut in Lucha Libre AAA, Vaquer has a plethora of different female stars who she could face for the first time in the promotion.

2. Rey Mysterio

Widely regarded as the greatest luchador and masked wrestler of all time, Rey Mysterio seems like a no-brainer to have appear in Lucha Libre AAA.

At 50 years old, Mysterio has proven that he still has a lot left in the tank and could show that in front of the Mexican fans for AAA.

The three-time WWE World Champion is currently out with a torn abductor muscle that required surgery.

Upon his return to in-ring competition, Mysterio should be among the first WWE stars who the company sends over to appear in AAA.

1. El Grande Americano

After making the announcement of the AAA acquisition, former AAA Mega Champion Hijo del Vikingo took part in an angle during the Rey Fenix vs. El Grande Americano match at WrestleMania 41 night one.

This saw Vikingo deliver a kick to Americano ahead of his bout before he helped Fenix out of the ring after his loss.

When looking at the WWE roster, it feels like no one would receive the amount of heat that Americano would get for his portrayal of the lucha libre culture.

Americano would be one of the biggest heels if he were to appear in Lucha Libre AAA and could make for a very intriguing opponent against Vikingo on a major show.
