WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event is headed for Tampa, Florida on May 24 on NBC.
Among the possible surprises for the show are returns – whether it be due to time out with injuries, or even time away from the company completely.
Here are eight potential returns that could take place at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event.
8. Bronson Reed

After suffering a complicated ankle injury at Survivor Series: WarGames, Bronson Reed is reportedly nearing a return to action.
With reports speculating that his return could occur as early as May or June, it seems that the monster star may be factored into WWE’s summer plans.
Potentially returning on the hunt for either the Intercontinental Championship or the United States Championship, Reed could have intriguing stories on either the Raw or SmackDown roster.
Reed was originally scheduled to face Seth Rollins at the December edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event but the match had to be scrapped after Reed’s injury. Perhaps he will finally get his NBC debut at this month’s SNME.

7. Paige

Since Saraya officially announced her departure from AEW, some fans have become more hopeful than ever that she may make her way back to WWE.
While she was cleared for in-ring competition in AEW, Paige previously served as WWE SmackDown General Manager – a role she could definitely take up again.
It remains rumored that WWE is set for another edition of the all women’s show Evolution 2 in July, offering a unique opportunity for the former Divas Champion to make an appearance, even if it is a one-off.
Hopefully WWE will find some way for Paige to make an appearance since she has expressed interest in participating in new WWE opportunities that didn’t exist when she was previously with the company like the women’s Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber.

6. Bayley

Ahead of her planned WrestleMania 41 tag team title bout alongside Lyra Valkyria, Bayley was viciously taken out by a “backstage attack”.
While later the attacker was revealed to be Becky Lynch, when The Man simply admitted she did it, Bayley has still not made an appearance to seek retribution.
After a match at Backlash 2025 in which Valkyria was able to beat Lynch and retain her women’s Intercontinental Championship, perhaps Bayley is set to make her return soon.
While there is no rematch set between Becky and Lyra announced for Saturday Night’s Main Event yet, their story seems far from over and would be an appropriate segue for Bayley’s return.

5. Goldberg

After news re-emerged earlier this week that Goldberg is likely returning to WWE sooner rather than later, speculation immediately picked up.
While the immediate speculation pointed to Goldberg making an appearance at Backlash 2025 – likely to assist Pat McAfee in his bout against GUNTHER – no such appearance occurred.
It isn’t officially known if there was ever a plan for Goldberg to appear, but he would certainly make a great surprise to pop-up during WWEs Saturday Night’s Main Event on NBC.
With mainstream recognition for sure, it would almost be the best fit for Goldberg to help Jey Uso in fending off Logan Paul, potentially setting the stage for Goldberg vs Paul at Night of Champions on June 28, 2025 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

4. Ilja Dragunov

After suffering an injury in September 2024, Ilja Dragunov was expected to be out of action for an extended time.
Suffering a torn ACL during a house show match with GUNTHER, there were varying reports regarding when Dragunov may be expected back in the ring.
There is still no clear timetable for when we can expect a Dragunov return, although there were whispers that he was recovering ahead of schedule.
Potentially resuming his targeting of the Intercontinental Championship upon his return, Dragunov could make a big return to surprise Dominik Mysterio at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

3. Asuka & Kairi Sane

Asuka and Kairi Sane – collectively known as the Kabuki Warriors – have both been out of action in WWE due to injury.
However, it has been reported that Asuka is close to return after last being seen in May 2024, putting her in contention to appear at SNME.
Kairi Sane on the other hand has been out of action since December 2024 but is also reportedly nearing a return.
It remains to be seen what the future of Damage CTRL may look like with IYO SKY a successful singles star, but the Kabuki Warriors may still end up staying together.

2. Wyatt Sicks

Alexa Bliss made her return on WWE SmackDown before Backlash, where she teamed with Zelina Vega to beat Chelsea Green and Piper Niven.
While Bliss still smiled, she had a noticeably darker in-ring style – finishing off Green with a Sister Abigail DDT – so it would make sense to see Bliss eventually join forces with the Wyatt Sicks.
Making a big splash on network TV, having the Wyatt Sicks return to align with Alexa Bliss at SNME could potentially unveil an entirely different type of WWE storytelling to a new audience.
Maximizing the time in front of mainstream viewers on NBC, perhaps the Wyatt Sicks will make a big impact at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

1. Cody Rhodes

After being absent from WWE since his WrestleMania 41 loss to John Cena, perhaps the American Nightmare Cody Rhodes will return at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
The former Undisputed WWE Champion is featured on the posters for the upcoming Money in the Bank premium live event set for June 7, so there will be limited chances for him to appear before then.
While it isn’t exactly clear what John Cena might do on the upcoming NBC special – be it a match or simply an appearance – he is advertised, so it could be the time for Cody Rhodes to make his surprise return.
Whether it’s to confront Cena or perhaps lend a helping hand to someone else on the roster – since the match finish between Randy Orton and Cena was far from conclusive – Cody Rhodes could be back soon.
