With the likes of Rusev, Ricky Saints, Penta and Rey Fenix all recently swapping AEW for WWE, there are several others who could be poised to follow suit.
From wrestlers who are inexplicably off television to those with ties to legends, there are a fair number of stars who could make the leap to WWE.
Here are eight more AEW stars that could potentially join WWE.
8. Danhausen
It remains unclear why Danhausen is not being featured on AEW programming but perhaps he will be called off the bench soon by WWE.
While he has been out of action in AEW since December 2023, he did return not too long ago for a sole surprise appearance at Ring of Honor Final Battle in December 2024, and when you look at his recent output away from AEW its clear that he’s been able to work.
Danhausen continues to compete in independent wrestling promotions and make appearances at wrestling related events, most recently competing in Las Vegas over WrestleMania weekend.
While his character may not be for everyone – his appeal to both adults and children is undeniable and he’s a highly marketable character who WWE could use in a comedy role. Hopefully he will be able to find somewhere to showcase his talents when his contract with AEW is up, reportedly in Summer 2025.

7. Wardlow
Wardlow is another AEW star that has been off of TV for quite some time, having last competed over a year ago at AEW Big Business in March 2024.
Fellow AEW star Matt Taven noted in September 2024 that Wardlow was recovering from a knee injury and hence had not re-joined the Undisputed Kingdom.
However, Wardlow has still yet to make any further appearances in AEW in 2025 and there doesn’t seem to be any word regarding when his contract may expire.
It is proving somewhat common that stars remain out of action for prolonged periods of time in AEW before their contracts expire, and if this ends up happening with Wardlow then one would imagine WWE may carry some interest.

6. Britt Baker
Once the top star of the AEW women’s division, Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. has also found herself out of action for some time.
After taking time off due to medical reasons, Baker returned in July 2024 and began a feuded briefly with Mercedes Mone in the lead up to their AEW TBS title match at AEW All In London.
However Baker has since only featured in two matches on TV, last in November 2024 without follow up to the story that was seemingly beginning between she and Serena Deeb.
With a charismatic character, catchphrase and look – Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. could be a good fit in WWE given the right circumstances.

5. HOOK
While he is currently a featured player in AEW, working with Samoa Joe and Katsuyori Shibata in the stable The Opps – HOOK could find himself in WWE one day.
The second-generation star remains early in his career despite seeming like a veteran AEW presence after the past several years of solid performances.
With HOOK’s father Tazz still on commentary in AEW, it seems possible the pair could be a package deal for WWE, or perhaps the young star will venture to WWE on his own, beginning life in NXT.
Seemingly with a long career ahead of him, it would make complete sense to see HOOK in WWE one day.

4. The Gunns (Billy Gunn, Colten Gunn & Austin Gunn)
While the three Gunns remain contracted to AEW – it seems possible that in the future, all three would switch over to WWE.
With Billy Gunn having significant history in WWE and Triple H, there is definitely a foundation there to explore their options.
Billy Gunn already finds himself in a unique position shared by Jake the Snake Roberts where they have AEW talent contracts in addition to WWE legends contracts. The latter provided for WWE have the eldest Gunn appear in the recently released WWE 2K25 game.
Colten & Austin Gunn’s expected contract expiration is not publicly known, although they did reportedly sign ‘multi-year deals’ in February 2023.

3. Sammy Guevara
While Sammy Guevara hasn’t been seen in action in AEW since October 2024, he has continued to be active in Ring of Honor.
Teaming with Dustin Rhodes to form the Sons of Texas, the pair remain the current ROH World Tag Team Champions.
However with Guevara being clear about his lifelong dream to be a professional wrestler, it stands to reason he may one day hope to make it to WWE.
If WWE was interested in recruiting Guevara, he definitely has time left in his career – and could come along with real life wife and WWE NXT alum Tay Melo.

2. Willow Nightingale
While she revealed she had signed her first contract with AEW back in November 2021, it is not clear how long Willow Nightingale is tied to the company.
The former TBS Champion is another who is a featured presence in AEW, but if she were interested in exploring her options outside of the company its not difficult to imagine WWE having interest – either for NXT or straight to the main roster.
With her positive character portrayed as still powerful, Willow Nightingale would be a marketing dream for WWE and could step into the space left behind by other veteran babyfaces potentially headed to becoming heels.
Her incredible in-ring skills, inherent likeability and mic work all combine to make an incredible recruit for WWE to strap a rocket to.

1. MJF
Of all of the AEW stars that have expressed interest in someday going to WWE – none have been more vocal than MJF.
Using his boasting and bravado about WWE wanting to recruit him as a character detail (including the ‘bidding war of 2024’) – he will be out of contract with AEW at some point, even if it’s not any time soon.
While we may see MJF end up working for WWE eventually – it doesn’t mean it will be any time this decade, but given he’s not even hit 30 yet, he has time on his side.
It remains to be seen if/when this move happens but don’t expect the noise surrounding it to ever die down.
