With the next event WWE Clash In Italy 2026 set for May 30, there could be some big surprises in store.
From returns to shocking title changes, there are certainly a variety of fun and intriguing surprises that could flip the trajectory of storylines heading into the summer.
Here are 7 potential surprises for WWE Clash in Italy 2026.
7. GUNTHER defeats Cody Rhodes for Undisputed WWE Championship
In what could prove to be a surprise title change, it could be that GUNTHER overtakes Cody Rhodes in Italy.
Adding to the element of surprise to the PLEs outside of North America, having The Ring General best Rhodes ahead of the lead up to SummerSlam 2026 could be a solid move.
Making way for a return of Randy Orton and perhaps even a triple-threat match in Minneapolis for SummerSlam 2026, there could be some interesting matches in the interim.
With Rhodes seemingly firmly planted on SmackDown, there have been more new challengers arriving on the blue brand as well like Royce Keys and Ricky Saints that could end up playing a role in the story.
6. Women’s Tag Team Championship Changes Hands
While the field for the women’s Tag Team Championship was already crowded at WrestleMania 42, it has only grown since then with Paige & Brie Bella still holding gold but fending off challengers left and right.
With the call-up of Fatal Influence to the main roster, it seems that the women’s tag team division is heating up.
Potentially setting up a longer feud with several teams, it could end up that a big showdown is headed for SummerSlam 2026.
Able to break off into an off-shoot singles feud for Jacy Jayne with the likes of any number of contenders in the tag division — with Charlotte Flair or Paige being equally interesting potential foes — there is definitely more to come from Fatal Influence.
5. Drew McIntyre returns
One WWE star that hasn’t been seen since picking up a loss to Jacob Fatu at WrestleMania 42 is Drew McIntyre.
With Fatu having moved on to take on Roman Reigns on WWE Raw, it could be that a lurking McIntyre could be still stalking the Samoan Werewolf.
Certainly no friend of Roman Reigns, McIntyre could end up choosing between foes if he were to interfere in the ongoing feud between Reigns and Fatu.
With another common enemy in CM Punk, perhaps the return of the former World Champion is also looming.
4. Seth Rollins costs GUNTHER
Despite moving brands, it doesn’t mean that GUNTHER has entirely evaded potential revenge from Seth Rollins.
In storyline, GUNTHER has made his way to SmackDown after he was owed a favor from a powerful ally — Paul Heyman.
While Seth Rollins was plotting an attack on The Oracle to seek revenge for his betrayals, it was GUNTHER who ended up saving Heyman in the end.
Potentially factoring into GUNTHER’s bout against Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship, Rollins may have a receipt to deliver to The Ring General.
3. Rusev wins Intercontinental Championship
While PENTA has been able to hold on to the WWE Intercontinental Championship, he continues to face challenges from the likes of Ethan Page, Rusev and Je’Von Evans.
Perhaps flipping the IC title over to Rusev at Clash in Italy could end up playing into another reveal.
Setting the stage for an amazing surprise return of Sheamus on the following night’s WWE Raw that also hails from Turpin, Italy — there could be a memorable moment in store.
Sheamus continues in the hunt for the Intercontinental Championship to complete his WWE Grand Slam, mirroring the final puzzle piece that John Cena was seeking before retirement.
2. Return of Randy Orton
One return that could end up creating a whole new segment of storylines might be Randy Orton.
Able to make a surprise return at Clash in Italy to factor into the summer plans in a big way, it could be that Orton ends up arriving ahead of the PLE.
Advertised as set to appear at the WWE SmackDown taping in Barcelona, Spain on May 29, it could be that The Viper may already be back in action.
Possibly set to be added to the Undisputed WWE Championship, perhaps there will be a triple-threat at Clash in Italy 2026 in the end.
1. The Usos turn on Roman Reigns
After going to war at Backlash, it certainly doesn’t seem as though the troubles within the Bloodline are settled.
While there could definitely be a rematch between Jacob Fatu and Roman Reigns, it has yet to be confirmed.
However, giving way for the perfect early summer shock — Fatu could capture the WWE Heavyweight Championship after a stunning betrayal.
If it ended up being The Usos who helped Fatu capture the win, there could be a whole new chapter of the Bloodline saga to unfold over the summer.
