WWE SmackDown has undergone various changes in 2025, but there is a lot more that can still happen on the blue brand and WWE as a whole in the coming weeks.
With WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, Evolution and SummerSlam on the horizon, expect new superstars to debut, existing stars to return and new storylines to play out on Friday Night SmackDown.
Here are seven potential changes to WWE SmackDown.
7. Giulia Introduces WWE Women’s United States Championship Open Challenge
On the June 27 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, Giulia defeated Zelina Vega to win the WWE Women’s United States Championship.
It remains to be seen what this title reign will entail and how “The Beautiful Madness” will make a name for herself as champion.
With the former NXT Women’s Champion viewing this title as a stepping stone, there is a good chance that WWE could embrace the past of the Women’s United States Championship’s male counterpart.
Giulia having a WWE Women’s United States Championship open challenge on SmackDown will make it unique from the reigns of both Chelsea Green and Zelina Vega, while helping the former STARDOM talent impress the fans with some strong in-ring action.

6. Charlotte Flair & Alexa Bliss Win The WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships
On the July 4 episode of SmackDown, Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss defeated The Secret Hervice and Michin & B-Fab to earn a spot in the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship four-way match at WWE Evolution 2025.
This alliance between the two former WWE Women’s Champions may lead them both to championship gold for the first time in years.
While many fans believed that a feud between the two was coming, a new tag team between Flair and Bliss could be a more intriguing path to take with both stars.
Charlotte and Alexa going on to win the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships at WWE Evolution 2025 would put a bigger spotlight on the blue brand for the foreseeable future.

5. Aleister Black Turns Heel
Over the past few weeks, Ron “R-Truth” Killings has drawn the ire of Aleister Black after getting involved in matches and backstage segments for him.
This led to a Black Mass being delivered to Killings on the June 27 edition of WWE SmackDown.
After being laid out by the former AEW star, a match was made official with Killings going one-on-one with Black on the July 11 episode.
This bout could see Black turning heel officially and brutally beating down R-Truth until his friend and former Judgment Day stablemate Damian Priest is forced to make the save.

4. Tama Tonga Returns To Join His Brothers w/Solo Sikoa
At WWE Night of Champions 2025, Solo Sikoa defeated Jacob Fatu to win the United States Championship with thanks to interference from JC Mateo, the returning Tonga Loa and the debuting Tala Tonga.
This led to Sikoa, Mateo, Loa and Tonga initiating a beatdown on Fatu and Jimmy Uso on the July 4 episode of WWE SmackDown.
While “The Samoan Werewolf” is already outnumbered, it may get worst before it gets any better with one other potential Bloodline member on the sidelines.
Going down with an injury in April, Tama Tonga could be on his way where he could join forces with his brothers and Mateo in Solo Sikoa’s MFT faction.

3. Jacob Fatu Assembles His Own Group To Do Battle With Solo Sikoa’s Bloodline
After turning on Solo Sikoa at WWE Money in the Bank 2025, Jacob Fatu knew that he would have to fight an uphill battle against his cousin.
Despite his loss of the United States Championship at WWE Night of Champions 2025, it seems evident that Fatu will not stop fighting against Solo’s MFT group.
Coming out of this loss, Fatu now knows he will need backup to do battle with Sikoa, JC Mateo, Tonga Loa and Talla Tonga moving forward on WWE SmackDown.
Recruiting the likes of Jimmy Uso and other members of his family, Fatu will have to call in the reinforcements to win this war against Solo and company.

2. Naomi Cashes In Money In The Bank On Winner Of Tiffany Stratton Vs. Trish Stratus WWE Women’s Championship At WWE Evolution 2025
At WWE Money in the Bank 2025, Naomi defeated Rhea Ripley, Alexa Bliss, Stephanie Vaquer, Giulia and Roxanne Perez to win the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder match.
After earning the prestigious briefcase, Naomi has made it clear she intends to make WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton’s life a living hell with the threat of her cashing in.
With Stratton scheduled to defend the title against WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus at WWE Evolution 2025, it might be the perfect time for Naomi to pull the trigger.
While many fans believe the cash-in could take place when Jade Cargill challenges for the title at SummerSlam, it really feels like Naomi’s reign as Ms. Money In The Bank will translate to championship gold before the end of this summer.

1. Randy Orton Betrays Cody Rhodes
At the WWE Night of Champions 2025 premium live event, Cody Rhodes defeated Randy Orton to win the King of the Ring Tournament Final.
During the course of the bout, Orton seemed on the verge of losing his cool by using a steel chair and an exposed turnbuckle at different points of the match
While he didn’t pull the trigger, Orton confronted Rhodes on the July 4 episode of WWE SmackDown and asked his friend to not squander the opportunity he has when Cody challenges John Cena for the Undisputed WWE Championship at SummerSlam 2025.
It would truly be a memorable moment if Cody fails at his SummerSlam rematch against Cena due to Orton finally turning his back on “The American Nightmare”.
