With the departure of several AEW stars reportedly planned to lead to WWE debuts, there are still legends that could make the leap.
From current in-ring performers to those who already only appear rarely, there are still a host of WWE legends that could return from their current stints in AEW.
Here are six legends who could leave AEW and return to WWE.
6. Billy Gunn

While he may be known as “Daddy Ass” in AEW, Billy Gunn first gained acclaim for posterior puns in WWE in the 1990s and early 2000s.
While his current contract length with AEW isn’t known, it’s always seemed like a possibility that Billy Gunn could return to WWE at some stage.
The DX reunions in WWE never feel the same without him, so fans have always questioned whether he’d end up back in the fold.
Perhaps there could even someday be an entire family reunion in WWE if his sons Austin and Colten ever make the switch.

5. Jim Ross

Jim Ross continues to make periodic appearances on AEW commentary for big matches but understandably keeps a limited travel schedule.
Accordingly, it might be even more special to see him appear in WWE for some rarified air like one match on the WrestleMania card.
Creating iconic moments for decades, many WWE fans are still nostalgic for JR’s signature style of calling huge moments – he could definitely carry his own online series with just his reactions.
Even though he has been integral to AEW, it is hard to imagine not seeing JR on-screen in WWE again one day.

4. Chris Jericho

With Chris Jericho’s history in WWE still being acknowledged by the company on television, it wouldn’t be a tremendous leap to see him return.
As an active performer, there are still stories for Jericho to re-visit in WWE or new feuds to ignite with an entirely new character.
Although at this point in his career, it would make sense to see an eventual return for Jericho being more like a nostalgia deal similar to Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts, although Jericho has been adamant that he’s not stepping away from in-ring action just yet.
Certainly one would expect for Chris Jericho to at some point be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, a move that would be surely made more possible by returning to the company.

3. Mercedes Mone

While she has seemingly just arrived in AEW, it isn’t beyond belief to imagine a future that sees Mercedes Mone makes a return to WWE.
With the other members of the acclaimed ‘Four Horsewomen’ – Bayley, Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch – still with WWE, the missing element remains Mone.
While her issues with former WWE management are well documented, there is every indication that the current regime is a whole new era.
There are many stories left to be told between Mone and a host of current WWE talent. There could be question marks though over whether she’d join WWE as Mercedes Mone, or return to the Sasha Banks name and character.

2. Samoa Joe

While Samoa Joe’s in-ring career is certainly still in full swing, if he were to return to WWE, he could be an immense asset both in front of and behind the camera.
With a history in the company and plenty of unfinished business, it would be amazing to see Joe get back in a WWE ring, but he was also wildly entertaining at commentary and backstage roles as well.
It would be incredible to see what Samoa Joe’s creative impact would be behind the scenes on either the main roster or NXT.
While his successful outside projects may make his availability limited, Samoa Joe would be worth the wait to see pop up in WWE from time to time.

1. Saraya/Paige

Since it has become official that Saraya has parted ways with AEW, it seems as though she could actually return to WWE sooner rather than later.
The former Paige is one to watch regarding potentially returning to WWE as her time in AEW ends with her official stance seemingly still being “never say never”.
Whether she was competing in the ring or functioning on-screen as an authority figure or manager, Saraya can do it all.
It would be nice at some point to see her return to WWE, even if only for a nostalgic appearance at a big event – perhaps at the rumored Evolution 2 event coming up soon.
