Roman Reigns made his return to WWE television back at SummerSlam, his first appearance since losing the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 40, and is back on SmackDown as well.

With Roman set to appear on both this week and next week’s episodes of SmackDown, his return comes at a time where a number of other changes could be set to take place on the brand.

Here are 6 changes potentially coming to WWE SmackDown following Roman Reigns’ return.

6) SmackDown Moving Back To USA Network

Along with the August 9 and August 16 episodes of SmackDown, Roman Reigns has also now been announced for the September 13 episode of SmackDown.

The September 13 episode of SmackDown is an important episode for the company, as it will be the first episode of SmackDown back on the USA Network.

With the show set to change networks, WWE will likely look to stack the show akin to the first NXT shows on the CW Network.

The network won’t be the only thing changing on September 13 however.

5) New Commentary Team

ESPN’s Joe Tessitore is set to begin with WWE next month, and his debut is set to cause some temporary rejigging to the commentary team.

It was announced on the SummerSlam Kickoff show that Tessitore will debut on the Raw brand upon his arrival to WWE, with Michael Cole being moved back to SmackDown.

However, it was also noted that the current plan is for them to swap brands again in January when Raw debuts on Netflix in 2025, with Michael Cole returning to Raw.

So in the long-run, Tessitore will likely be the new voice of Friday night’s when SmackDown moves to the USA Network.

4) Charlotte Flair Returning To WWE SmackDown

With Roman Reigns making his return to the company at SummerSlam, there is still one more major name likely returning to the company soon.

Charlotte has been out of action with a torn ACL, MCL and Meniscus she suffered during a SmackDown match with Asuka back in December 2023.

With that match now being 8 months ago, Charlotte should be very close to making her return soon, likely set to return sometime in Autumn.

Another top star to go along with Bianca Belair, Jade Cargill, Nia Jax and Bayley in SmackDown’s loaded women’s division.

3) Jey Uso Moving To SmackDown?

Upon Roman’s return to WWE television, the Bloodline Civil War on SmackDown will be the key focal point on the show over the next few months.

With Survivor Series just over three months away, Jey Uso will need to make his way to the blue brand to be a key part of the storyline.

Jey is one of Raw’s most popular stars since the Draft, though he hasn’t really had a clear direction on the show for a while, which is clearly by design.

Though he HAS been awfully close with Sami Zayn recently…

2) The Original Bloodline To Reunite In WWE

Roman is currently on an island all of his own against Solo’s crew, but the end goal should be obvious here.

Jimmy Uso will likely make his return soon, and both he and Roman were excluded from the Draft, meaning it’s possible they could appear on Raw to attempt to recruit Jey and Sami to their side.

The OG Bloodline uniting as babyfaces on SmackDown, Honorary Uce included, will be a complete shot in the arm for the blue brand.

But there is one other rather important piece of the puzzle that could fit back in soon…

1) The Rock Returning To WWE SmackDown

The Rock recently finished wrapping up filming on his latest movie ‘The Smashing Machine’, and it’s led to speculation about his WWE future.

The Rock has a lot of avenues to explore when he returns to WWE, but they all revolve around names currently on the SmackDown roster, namely Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns.

If Cody is going to team with Roman Reigns against the Bloodline, which could be a possibility following the ending of SummerSlam, then Rock has extra incentive to join the New Bloodline against them, planting the early seeds of Roman vs. Rock.

I doubt he’d compete in a War Games in 2024, but imagine if he would…
