Game Changer Wrestling is the number one independent wrestling company in the world.
With consistent sold out show almost weekly GCW has captured the hearts of fans all over the country.
Great cards with top independent talent often times attached to a weekend packed full of wrestling has rabid GCW wants always craving more.
Jon Moxley is the current GCW Heavyweight Champion and in theory I understand why.
Having your championship attached to someone as polarizing as Mox who is attached to such a major company like AEW should do a lot for the brand.
Often times its not mentioned on AEW tv and the appeal of the move is not really achieved.
To me, the only thing lacking in the great things GCW is doing on a weekly basis is emphasis on the heavyweight title scene.
Having the belt defended on every show would benefit the company, the championship and many wrestlers apart of GCW, here I will discuss 5 GCW faithfuls who would carry the championship to the next level.
5. Jimmy Lloyd
The different Boy Jimmy Lloyd is a GCW original and has proudly carried the flag for years.
Lloyd has done so many different things in a GCW ring including deathmatches, scrambles, lucha matches, straight up wrestling matches and everything in between.
Lloyd is the heart and soul of GCW and what he represents for the company would lead to a great moment with a title victory.
As one of the most popular wrestler’s on the roster, fans want to see Lloyd win as he is someone they constantly get behind.
The homegrown talent in GCW need moments to show that the work that they have put in is appreciated, a title win for Lloyd would show that.
4. Alex Colon

You want someone to represent your company as the champion look no further than someone who has already main vented a bunch of your shows putting on thrilling deathmatch showcases, Alex Colon.
As the GCW ultraviolent champion Colon already knows what it takes to get the crowd on his side and that’s his brand of Ultraviolence.
Having a wrestler who show by show gives you that gritty, hard hitting, violent action featuring barbed wire, light tubes, chairs and doors will constantly remind people what GCW is about with every main event.
The match with Mox for the championship could be a deathmatch dream match featuring all the crazy stuff Colon brings and a victory in that element would be huge.
If you want to build onto the legacy that Nick Gage built putting the belt on Alex Colon would be a great move
3. AJ Gray

Gray is a former GCW heavyweight champion himself although his reign was cut very short.
As someone who is on call for any situation he is presented with Gray has been one of the pillars of GCW.
After 3 years, Gray earned a title rematch against Mox and came up short for the championship at Joey Janela’s Spring Break this year yet with his consistency and drive he can be right back in contention.
Gray is also the current GCW Extreme champion as well as a former heavyweight champion in multiple promotions so carrying the heavyweight championship for GCW would be welcomed.
Gray is another example of someone who fans think should to be rewarded for the work and effort he’s put in over the years but most importantly he’s earned the spot through blood and sweat.
2. EFFY

When many people think of GCW they think of EFFY and for good reason, EFFY is fine.
As one of the wrestler’s called upon to take on the likes of Jeff Jarrett we know EFFY is primed for the big match.
For what EFFY represents not just in GCW but in all aspects of his life, being GCW Champion would be an amazing look for all involved.
EFFY would add a level of drama to the heavyweight title matches as champion with so many angles that could be tied to him including with his GCW tag team champion partner Allie Katch.
Honestly, no company that has EFFY is utilizing him to his full potential like they really should and a title victory like this would be a way for GCW to do that.
1. Joey Janela

Considering Joey Janela’s deal with AEW is finish and he can commit full time to GCW making him the next GCW Heavyweight champion would be a smart move.
Janela has history with Mox, they had an AEW main event against each other so a GCW title showdown would make a lot of sense.
As GCW champion, Janela defending the title against all the up and coming talent playing gatekeeper while at the same time elevating the belt would bring a lot of prestige to the championship.
Janela is a day one GCW star, the company was built off the work Janela put in for years before his AEW deal and a GCW title win would be a big payoff.
Janela becoming GCW champion after everything he’s been through with the company would be the best way to show good faith in homegrown talent, Janela is THEE homegrown talent, its only fitting.
