With AEW fast approaching Double or Nothing 2025 on May 25, there are certainly surprises left to be revealed ahead of the event.
However, there could also still be some big moments reserved for the pay-per-view itself as it’s the first Double or Nothing will take place in Phoenix, Arizona.
Here are five surprises that could happen at AEW Double or Nothing 2025.
5. Eddie Kingston Returns
Eddie Kingston has been very missed by fans since he was taken out of action due to an injury in May 2024.
It has been reported that Kingston may be able to return around summer 2025 – so perhaps Jon Moxley is about to meet his match.
While it may not end up being Kingston that overthrows Moxley in the end, certainly having the “Mad King” back will add a layer of drama to the Death Riders story arc.
Controversially, Kingston could always return to join Moxley’s group – but let’s not put that into the universe!

4. Jack Perry Re-Joins The Elite
While Nicholas and Matthew Jackson have made their on-screen returns in AEW, Jack Perry did not accompany them – rather the latest details from the storyline seemingly come from NJPW Strong Style Evolved.
After Perry confronted The Young Bucks for their lack of support in his loss of the TNT Championship the detail was explained by a partial acknowledgement by Matthew Jackson with note they would discuss the matter privately.
Seemingly, this could have occurred and now Perry is free to re-emerge in AEW – making for a perfect surprise pop-up at Double or Nothing 2025 to lend a hand to The Elite.
In real life however, Jack Perry has posted to social media about his latest crafting exploits at home including knife making using pinecones.

3. Cedric Alexander Debuts
One former WWE star that some fans continue to hope to see join AEW is Cedric Alexander.
While the most recent group of WWE releases in May are definitely not going to be eligible to appear in only a few weeks at AEW Double or Nothing 2025 – there was a group who departed back in February that will be contractually free.
One such potential new AEW signing is Cedric Alexander. With the rest of his former WWE faction the Hurt Business now in AEW under the Hurt Syndicate banner, he could absolutely fit right into their stable.
Or – he could choose to join an entirely new faction that would be poised to feud with Syndicate…

2. MJF Reveals His New Faction
Try as he might, MJF still can’t get Bobby Lashley to give him a big thumbs up in order to be able to join the Hurt Syndicate.
At some point MJF may decide to take matters into his own hands and assemble his own squad, rather than continue to await Lashley’s approval.
One incredible twist could be for MJF to debut his new ally – Hurt Business original member and potential new AEW signee, Cedric Alexander.
Other options include former indie stablemate and MLW star Hammerstone, or Bishop Dyer, formerly known as Baron Corbin in WWE.

1. Owen Hart Cup Final Surprise
Since the rest of the tournament has ended at this point, both the finals of the men’s and women’s tournaments are set.
Hangman Adam Page will face off against Will Ospreay in the men’s final, and Mercedes Mone will take on Jamie Hayter in the women’s final.
With major stakes on the line – a title shot at AEW All In: Texas in July 2025 – there could be room for big surprises in either final.
Whether it’s an interference via run-in from a former rival or some other form of shenanigans, Double or Nothing would be the perfect place to throw in a big twist ahead of All In.
