With more former AEW stars seemingly set to join WWE in the near future, there could be some brand new tag teams involving these stars.
By combining a star most synonymous with WWE with a new signee, there are many intriguing possibilities.
Here five new tag teams that could come about after the arrival of potential new signees to WWE from AEW.
5. Cody Rhodes & Powerhouse Hobbs

If he doesn’t debut as a towering monster out to get Cody Rhodes — Powerhouse Hobbs could actually make the ideal companion to “The American Nightmare”.
Reportedly already signed to WWE, Hobbs could bring Rhodes’ personal influence on his career into an on-screen partnership.
Being able to serve as back-up to QB1, Hobbs would be the perfect person to watch Rhodes’ back — for now at least.
Also able to turn on him in dramatic fashion in the future to reveal Hobbs’ evil intentions all along, there are a few different ways this duo could play out.

4. Mr. Iguana & Danhausen

While Mr. Iguana has been appearing primarily in AAA, he is certainly a WWE fan favorite.
Another potential WWE fan favorite that has yet to arrive in the company, but is linked to signing there is Danhausen.
With reports suggesting some within WWE are interested in bringing Danhausen in, it would seem that pairing the “Very Nice, Very Evil” star with the similar wacky Mr. Iguana would be a perfect match.
Furthermore, if they were to break-up — the pair would make the perfect duo to re-enact the barbershop betrayal of Marty Jannetty by Shawn Michaels, albeit far more comedically.

3. Matt Cardona & Ethan Page

One pair that need to interact on the main roster as soon as possible are Matt Cardona and Ethan Page.
While Ethan Page has been in WWE for almost two years now, his past in AEW continues to be a reference point as his character moves about NXT.
Surely poised to be called up to the main roster and join Cardona’s wife Chelsea Green on SmackDown, it would be a great deal of fun to see the trio engaged in their own storyline.
With Green still holding the AAA Mixed Tag Team Championship with Ethan Page, the on-screen connection could come together easily.

2. Kevin Owens & Chris Jericho

With the potential return to WWE of Chris Jericho, it would be amazing to see him link up with a fellow veteran of WWE and someone he has history with.
Perfectly paired with former tag team partner Kevin Owens, Jericho could return as a babyface star and enjoy all of the good energy from the jubilant crowd before eventually moving on to a darker side.
With either one primed to turn on the other, it could be an intriguing game between the pair of legendary betrayers.
Potentially able to pick up where they left off in 2017, it could be that we even see a Festival of Friendship 2.

1. Nikki Bella & Anna Jay

In what could prove to be one of the best paired duos on this list, if WWE ends up signing AEW star Anna Jay — she will no doubt have potential for big things in NX and eventually the main roster.
While it seems the mysterious disappearance of Anna Jay may be another case of an AEW star benched ahead of their contract expiration — Jay could make a big splash if she made the leap to WWE thereafter.
A great blend of a vintage Diva attitude with a more modern skillset, Anna Jay could be the perfect first client for Bella management on WWE Raw.
Bringing about a new iteration for Nikki Bella that relies heavily upon her strengths — fan connection and mic skills — putting her with some younger talent could be amazing for both her and the rising stars working with her.
