Recently released Malcolm Bivens also known as Stokely Hathaway is the best manager in pro wrestling.
I was constantly waiting for the day that WWE would use him to his full potential, they never did.
Previously having managed MJF , Low-Ki , TJP and Roderick Strong, leading groups like Diamond Mine and Catch Point, Hathaway has managed a number of wrestlers in different companies.
As someone who is entertaining in any element he is put into, having a manager like Hathaway in your locker room would be great considering managers in pro wrestling are a lost art.
There are plenty of wrestlers out now that would benefit from the services of Hathaway, and we are going to explore which 10 he can take to the next level.
10. Wardlow
Wardlow is on his way to being one of the top guys in AEW and as we’ve seen he doesn’t need to talk much.
Being managed by Hathaway will add another element to Wardlow’s character on his way to the AEW Championship.
Hathaway has history with Wardlow’s biggest rival, MJF, having previously managed him. The back and forth between the two would be tremendous.
Hathaway has a great way of selling big monster type wrestlers, and with Wardlow’s trajectory having that mouthpiece would benefit him greatly.
With how entertaining he is, Hathaway could get Wardlow more heat as a heel or a babyface.
9. Alex Kane and The Bomaye Fight Club
Hathaway has a lot of history in Major League Wrestling, and with Alex Kane as the National Openweight champion, The Bomaye Fight Club is right up Hathaway’s alley.
Throughout his managerial history, Hathaway has had great success with groups like this, and I think a manager of his caliber is exactly what they need to go to the next level.
MLW is in need of some new figureheads in the company, and what Hathaway could do for many on the roster would be such a benefit for all.
With Hathaway on board it would help a lot with the expansion of the Bomaye Fight club, Hathaway has a great way of convincing talent to join him.
This actually might be the most fitting group for Hathaway to be paired with in all of wrestling.
8. Ace Austin
The Impact X Division Champion is one of the best wrestlers in the company, and his matches are consistently the best on the card. Hathaway would take Austin to the Impact World Title.
The tenacity of Hathaway paired with the charisma of Austin would lead to some very entertaining segments along the way to the World Championship.
Hathaway excels with a cocky, young, superstar like Austin because his style of managing compliments brashness so much.
Again, Hathaway would add an element to Impact that they are currently lacking, a manager that could have a stable of wrestlers coinciding with every part of the roster.
Ace Austin is destined for the main event scene at this rate and an option C scenario with Hathaway at his side would be a great way for him to enter.
7. Dante Martin
With the unfortunate injury of his brother Darius, Dante is back out as a singles wrestler, and what better way for him to climb back up the rankings than with Hathaway doing his bidding for him on the microphone.
We saw how fun things got when Dante had Lio Rush at his side speaking on his behalf, and someone just as entertaining in Hathaway would add a bit of flare to Dante’s presentation.
Martin is already destined for greatness, and with Hathaway putting together his deals on camera it would lead Martin right into championship contention.
Exceptional promo ability paired with Martin’s high flying, gravity defying, speed filled in-ring ability could make Martin into a complete package.
Hathaway brings a lot of experience in a lot of different elements to the table and that knowledge from around the wrestling world would advance the in ring knowledge of Martin.
6. Tasha Steelz
The current Impact Wrestling Knockout’s Champion, Steelz has been having a great run these last couple of months in the company.
Hathaway as the manager of Steelz and Savannah Evans would propel them to being the top heel act in the Impact Women’s Division
Steelz as the boisterous, confident champion is right along the lines of what kind of clients Hathaway usually likes to represent, when there is already gold present he’s even happier.
Having Hathaway thrown in the middle of the Impact Women’s Division, which many consider to be one of the best in the country, and stir some things up the way he does would be great television.
The relationship Hathaway has with many wrestlers through his years of experience leads me to believe a partnership with Steelz would be one of his best yet.
5. Private Party
It’s way over time to get Private Party away from the AFO, they should have been out when Matt Hardy left.
Private Party is one of the most underutilized tag teams AEW has on the roster, and being paired with Hathaway would get them right back into title contention.
The tag team scene in AEW is so deep that many get lost in the shuffle, so adding Hathaway would enhance the presentation of Private Party and separate them from the pack.
When given the chance, Private Party are some of the most fun and exciting wrestlers you can see, and Hathaway as their janky promoter is an element people wouldn’t expect.
Forming his own stable with Private Party and a couple of other wrestlers I will mention here could make Hathaway the top manager in AEW.
4. JONAH
Since his release from the WWE, Jonah has been on a tear through many wrestling companies around the country.
As the take nothing, intense monster, Jonah has become he is exactly the type of wrestler Hathaway loves to represent.
Jonah has his sights set on the Impact World Championship, and Hathaway would come along and talk him right into main event contention.
Jonah and Hathaway have a bit of history as they were both in WWE at the same time, so their real life relationship could play a role in their on-screen relationship.
Together, the pair could do some great work not just in Impact wrestling but also in New Japan Pro Wrestling where Jonah is starting to make a mark.
3. Keith Lee
If you know anything about these two and their history behind the scenes you would know how much of a perfect pairing this would be.
Lee and Hathaway have a big brother/little brother type relationship, with Hathaway playing the annoying little bro, that on screen as Lee playing the “I can talk about my little brother but you can’t and now I’m going to beat you up” would be great.
With the reactions Lee has gotten since debuting in AEW, fans eventually want him in the AEW title picture. Hathaway would be a great transition to get him to where he needs to be.
Keith Lee is another wrestler who doesn’t need to talk much and with everything they have been through Hathaway knows exactly what needs to be said about Lee to get fans behind him… or to hate him.
At some point it wouldn’t be the worst idea to turn Keith Lee heel as fans just see him as the nice guy and a manager like Hathaway could bring out a side of Lee rarely seen.
2. Cesaro
One wrestler who is still a mystery to wrestling fans around the world after his WWE departure is Cesaro/Claudio Castagnoli.
A number of people are under the impression that he will show up in AEW soon, and a major way for him to debut would be with Stokely Hathaway by his side.
Upon debut in any company, Cesaro will receive a lot of positive fanfair and I think an interesting way to throw them all off would be to have Hathaway as a manager, as his brand will enhance the promo side of his character.
The way that the pair would play off each other considering Cesaro’s dry, charming sense of humor would make a lot view Cesaro in a different like a grow a different appreciation for him.
Cesaro will be left to do what he does best and that’s give his all in the ring, Hathaway will be there to sell the technician to everyone else.
1. Jade Cargill
Stokely Hathaway has to steal Jade Cargill away from Smart Mark Sterling. It’s the absolute best decision to make if Hathaway signs with AEW.
While Sterling has been great in his role representing Cargill, Hathaway is the manager for Jade we never knew we needed.
Hathaway became a manager to manage a talent like Cargill, and what he would bring to the table would show that Jade Cargill is everything she says she is plus so much more.
With Hathaway being one of the best personalities on Twitter, being paired with Cargill who is also great at Twitter would gather her even more notoriety.
This right here is THEE pairing that needs to be made as Hathaway brings his veteran mind, his entertainment, another element of heat and more representation to the roster of AEW plus more Baddies time on our tv’s.
