A former champion has shared the belief that WWE should utilize newer stars in the run-up to WrestleMania.
With Bronson Reed being the latest WWE star to suffer an injury on the road to WrestleMania 42, plans for WWE Elimination Chamber seemingly have had to change.
During a recent discussion on Busted Open Radio, the former Baron Corbin was asked if WWE should use the next generation of stars as they approach WrestleMania.
Jonathan Coachman would lay out the suggestion, noting the reliance on ‘OG’ stars and talent who are being pushed, stating:
“Do you think that, maybe for the first time ever, on the road to WrestleMania, they need to start leaning into some young stars instead of ‘eh, not quite ready, let’s keep with the OGs’, when one OG after another is going down, or a guy that they are pushing is going down?”
The former WWE United States Champion, now competing as Bishop Dyer, would say that was something he always believed, saying:
“Yeah, I mean, but I’ve always thought that. You need to have fresh talent to work with, and it’s for both sides of the coin.
“The older cats, the guys like Randy (Orton), and Cody (Rhodes), and Seth (Rollins), and Roman (Reigns), they need new opponents. They can’t just keep wrestling each other. And that’s also what elongates your career.
“I think people mistake it as like these new guys are coming in, they’re gonna take spots, and the other guys are going to be out, like out of a job.
“It’s not the NFL. There’s not a fifty-two-man roster. It’s not like that here. This creates more opportunity for everybody on the roster, top to bottom.
“I think right now is the first time in a long, long, long time, where you have these new guys, the Je’Von (Evans), the Trick (Williams), the Carmelo (Hayes). Let’s not leave his name out of these conversations. Oba (Femi), and then (Ricky) Starks, and those dudes in NXT. Two more talent that I think would thrive on the main roster.”
