Details have emerged on the current plans for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 42 in April.
The April 18 & 19 Premium Live Event will see Drew McIntyre defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against the winner of the men’s Elimination Chamber match this Saturday.
With that match seeing Randy Orton vs. LA Knight vs. Cody Rhodes vs. Je’Von Evans vs. Jey Uso vs. Trick Williams to determine McIntyre’s opponent, the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has revealed details for WrestleMania 42.
According to Dave Meltzer, it is “virtual lock” that Cody Rhodes will be involved in the championship match, writing:
The other talk regards McIntyre’s WWE title match. It’s a virtual lock Rhodes would be involved in that. Whether it’s a singles match or a three-way with Jacob Fatu, or even more that would involve Randy Orton, Sami Zayn, or others is unclear, and may not even be finalized.
What we have been told is that a match involving more than three people is not being talked about right now. So it is still Rhodes, and if someone is added, at this point, it would only be Fatu.
My impression is that this has already been decided even though plans for the rest of the show are being rewritten.
It was previously reported that plans for WrestleMania 42 had changed, with Triple H receiving ‘internal criticism‘.
An injury picked up by Bronson Reed on this week’s Raw has also reportedly impacted plans for WrestleMania 42, with The Vision member originally set to win the Elimination Chamber qualifier.
The WWE World Heavyweight Championship will also be on the line, with CM Punk defending against Roman Reigns in a main event match.
