An independent star is to miss an upcoming weekend of shows for what is described as a ‘major career opportunity’.
Described as ‘awesome’ by Mark Henry, the WWE Hall of Famer called upon Triple H or Tony Khan to sign independent wrestling star Ricky Sosa.
Announced to be taking part in the wXw 16 Carat Gold Tournament, which takes place between March 6 and 8 in Oberhausen, Germany, an update has emerged on Sosa’s availability for the event.
In a post shared on Twitter, it was revealed that a ” last-minute major career opportunity” would see Sosa absent, with the message reading:
“Update on Ricky Sosa for #wXw16Carat Gold 2026
“wXw European Champion @rickysosa508 will unfortunately not be available for the 16 Carat Gold Tournament due to a last-minute major career opportunity.
“We wish him all the best. Ricky will, however, be at 16 Carat Sunday in Oberhausen.”
(Translated from German)
The 16 Carat show on Sunday would be night three of the wXw event, which takes place at the Turbinenhalle Oberhausen.
The post doesn’t reveal what ‘major career opportunity’ Sosa is pursuing, although there has been some speculation amongst fans about a potential WWE appearance, with NXT Vengeance Day takes place on March 7 at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.
WrestleTalk will provide any updates on Ricky Sosa and his career opportunities should they emerge, with readers able to follow the stories right here.
