With the match very much in the record books, Cena has now revealed some features of the match that fans may have missed.

Speaking on The Rich Eisen Show, Cena noted that an element of the match was a throwback to early in his in-ring career, saying:

“There are so many Easter eggs that people don’t know about.

“Even for the match against GUNTHER, I tried to grow my hair out like the Prototype from UPW and OVW. I couldn’t dye it because I was working in between stuff, but I could fade it and grow it long so I could have that comb back.

“Nobody caught that, but nobody was supposed to, I was just doing it like, ‘If you get it, you get it.'”

With Cena suggesting “so many Easter eggs” that may have been missed, there are no doubt more to be found for fans eager to revisit Cena’s retirement tour.

Prototype was the name that Cena used during his time in Ultimate Pro Wrestling, with his first match being a victory over Jobber-R-Us (Funky Billy Kim & Trouble Youth) in November 1999.

He would bring the character into OVW, being the WWE developmental territory at the time, and compete as Prototype on Raw and SmackDown house shows.
