Brodie Lee Jr has opened up about his relationship with current Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes.
Brodie Lee Jr and Cody Rhodes formed an emotional bond in AEW, where Rhodes feuded with Brodie Lee before he passed away.
From then on, Rhodes has been close with Brodie Lee’s family, including his son, Brodie Jr, who has been seen in the front row for many of Rhodes’ big matches, including his WWE WrestleMania main events, and away from the cameras as well.
In a new interview with The Wrestling Classic, Brodie Jr commented on his relationship with Rhodes and the latest chapter, which included Rhodes and his wife Brandi asking Brodie Jr to be the godfather of their youngest daughter, Leilani.
Brodie Jr said:
“One of my favorite stories is I call him Unc because I was at Fanatics Fest, I’ve been to both of those with him actually, and we were at Fanatics Fest, the second one, we’re in the golf cart and a guy turns around, and he’s like ‘I loved your grandpa.’
“Cody’s like, ‘Oh no, this isn’t my son.’ And the guy says, ‘Oh,’ and he’s like, ‘What is he to you?’ And I was like, ‘He’s like an uncle to me.’ And Cody just yells as loud as possible, ‘I’m Unc!’ So I’ve called him Unc a couple of times.
“When I was at Liberty’s birthday party, I heard whispers about Cody having another baby, and I was like, ‘They’re probably just talking about it,’ and after the party, it’s like 5 probably, and he’s like, ‘Hey Little B, can me and Brandi talk to you for a second?’ I’m like, ‘What are they gonna talk to me about?’
“They pull me in their dining room, and they said, ‘We’re having another baby.’ And I thought that was it. I’m like, ‘Very happy for you guys,’ and I go to get up, and he’s like, ‘Wait, one more thing.’ And I was like, ‘Oh shoot.’
“Sit back down and he’s like, ‘We were thinking, would you like to be the godfather?’
“And I started crying because I was like, ‘This is crazy how you helped me through all the stuff with my dad and now I’m the godfather of your new baby.’
“So that to me was a very nice moment. I’m very excited about that.”
