A championship match has now been confirmed for the upcoming AEW Full Gear pay-per-view event in Newark, New Jersey.
At AEW WrestleDream, Kris Statlander made the first defence of her AEW Women’s World Championship, when she scored the victory over the former champion Toni Storm.
After the match, Statlander was interrupted by TBS Champion Mercedes Mone, who was hosting her own open challenge match for the show against any champion and their title, which was answered by Interim ROH Women’s Television Champion Mina Shirakawa.
After Mercedes’ victory, her and Statlander went at it again, with Mercedes later challenging Statlander to an AEW Women’s World Championship match at Full Gear next month.
On tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite, Statlander had an interview with Renee Paquette prior to Mercedes Mone’s 12 belts championship celebration, where she officially accepted the challenge from Mercedes at Full Gear.
Statlander would later end up interrupting the celebration, with her and Harley Cameron working together to put Mercedes through a table after Mercedes had shoved puppet Mone’s face into a cake set up on the table.
.@MercedesVarnado may think this party is all about her, but @CallMeKrisStat and @HarleyCameron_ have other plans!
