After Rey Mysterio appeared to sustain an injury on last night’s SmackDown, his WWE WrestleMania 41 match could be in jeopardy.
If Mysterio is unable to compete in his match set for night one against El Grande Americano, there are a whole host of options of men who could replace him for the match.
Here are six potential replacements for Rey Mysterio at WWE WrestleMania 41.
6. Randy Orton
In the end, Randy Orton remains without an opponent after Kevin Owens was revealed as medically unable to compete at WWE WrestleMania 41.
While the veteran issued essentially an open challenge on the SmackDown before Mania, his future opponent will presumably remain a mystery until the match on Sunday.
That being said – he could always make a surprise appearance on night one to serve as a legendary substitution for Rey Mysterio.
It seems that the Viper is in a fighting mood and ready to dish out an RKO to anyone, so why not El Grande Americano?

5. Dragon Lee
Perhaps the most obvious replacement for Rey Mysterio would be his LWO faction-mate and frequent tag team partner, Dragon Lee.
Facing off against Dragon Lee would still be a test of El Grande Americano’s lucha skills, albeit with less experience than the Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio.
A force in his own right, Dragon Lee could still prove to be a legitimate challenge to El Grande Americano, despite not yet reaching singles success on the main roster that he saw on WWE NXT.
Perhaps the substitution could prove to be a star making moment for Dragon Lee – further cementing his rising stardom.

4. Pete Dunne
While he is not a masked luchador from Mexico, Pete Dunne is another compelling test of technical prowess for the mysterious El Grande Americano.
Dunne would not only be warmly received by the crowd – the match could help reinforce the seriousness of his technical style that hasn’t been truly showcased since NXT.
Setting up a potential future program between New Catch Republic (Dunne and recently returned tag team partner Tyler Bate) and American Made, the replacement could easily spin-off into a new storyline.
A reliable worker, Pete Dunne is proving to be an absolute ace for Triple H and able to step into a variety of situations – this last minute change could be just the moment Pete Dunne needs at WWE WrestleMania 41.

3. Otis
While Chad Gable turning his back on Alpha Academy was a story that fans enjoyed greatly, there wasn’t a tremendous payoff between him and Otis directly.
Otis did stand up for himself, but then WWE failed to capitalize on riding the wave of fan support that accompanied the new burning hatred for Chad Gable.
However, Otis could end up getting his ultimate revenge if he were to be revealed to be going against “El Grande Americano” – only to end up being the one to unmask him.
Providing a nice bookend to their slightly unresolved storyline, Otis could finally be the one to expose Gable.

2. Axiom
One outside choice that could end up creating a magical WrestleMania moment would be NXT star Axiom.
While he could fit the aesthetic of being a masked wrestler, the former NXT Heritage Cup Champion (as A-Kid) brings a totally different style of technical high flying.
Axiom may be a little bit busy however since he and Nathan Frazer are set to take on Hank Walker and Tank Ledger at NXT Stand & Deliver.
However, if there were ever a great time to pull double duty – it is WWE WrestleMania weekend!

1. Rey Fenix
While Rey Fenix has just made his debut in WWE, he is certainly no stranger to professional wrestling on big stages.
The former AEW World Tag Team Champion is set to compete in singles action on SmackDown for the time being (with brother Penta on WWE Raw), so Fenix could easily sub in for Mysterio.
Utilizing Rey Fenix would probably also cause minimal disruption to the outcome of the storyline – presuming that someone is going to school El Grande Americano and potentially unmask him.
